Yesterday I took off 6 hours to go home and take care of some business stuff and get myself ready for Faerie Samhain. JD and I had a series of conversations about variations in Celtic pronunciation and orthography and how silly it looks. Hence the title.
Got the funds released from our credit card company yesterday! WOO HOO! So, about a thousand dollars hit the bank today. I'm quite happy about that since it means we can buy more cool stuff.
Still gotta work on that shipping table and get that done, but I'm going to try and crank through that tonight. If I can't finish it tonight I'll definitely finish it tomorrow.
Got our Baker and Taylor account set up. I think I can start ordering books today, but I'll have to check that.
Anyways after all the store crap I got done JD and I went to Faerie Samhain. It was great. There were wonderful dishes of food. We divined from an egg in a glass of water and a pumpkin that we had to smash almost Gallagher style to get the fucker to break. Then we all got the tarot card of the year. This year we used the Mother Peace deck, and as cool as it is I don't really care for the artwork. I like Daughters of the Moon better. I think I'll recommend that one next time.
My card for the year. 3 of swords. *eye roll*
According to the booklet it represents drama and unfinished business.
I'm going to love looking at that all year.
JD got the 4 of swords which was about cleansing the self and energizing the chakras or something.
OH! And JD got a faerie name. He is SNAFU. As most faerie names go it's laden with silliness and irony. He was talking with a woman about the fact that SNAFU is an acronym but he could only remember that the FU meant "Fucked Up." She laughed and said it's "Situation Normal, All Fucked Up." He realizing that this is a state that he readily admits to being in constantly, felt that it was appropriate to don as a faerie name, and everyone loved it.
So, I'm dating SNAFU!
In other ironic notes, I went to all the trouble to burn a CD for Samhain and forgot and left it at home. Potpourri had last years CD and me not realizing it burned almost the exact same disc last year. So, it all worked out in the end. :)
joy,
