Uroboros and solving the puzzle

Sep 09, 2008 15:34

I have to say that I am pretty much impressed or rather taken aback by the track list of "Uroboros". It sounds very different to the "sound" ( just how the words melt into your mouth and brain, I mean) then the ones before. It sounds somehow exactly like they announced it. A bit more mystical, back to the roots and deep-down dugging into the layers ( Read more... )

why should it be to impress people? there is no need for such a thing. I did it because I love Dir en grey and because I can't wait for the album and the songs. Its like another faucet of sparkling star dust which you can't wait to put your hands on to absorb its magnificence. And if the titles are all I can get so far, I will take them and work with what I have ;)

Sa Bir could be either "The Bureau" or "The Bier," with their typical snagging of whatever language they feel like for each bit.

Vinushka is a pet form of a pet form of a drop of blood, apparently. Or perhaps a relative, speaking poetically. -_-;; We'll have to wait for the lyrics to determine it, I think.

Gone With the Wind's title in Japanese is 風と共に去りぬ... 去 seems to mean 'remove/leave.' So, lamenting and leaving, lamenting while leaving, lamenting leaving?...

蜷局/toguro = "bureau"... would be a nice little joke of theirs if they meant 'the bureau' with Sa Bir too.

冷血なりせば -- "whether or not cold-blooded," more or less.

我、闇とて・・・ -- "me, the darkness and [the person said]..." I'm guessing it's te in place of tte.

A bugaboo is like a boogeyman/bogeyman -- the imaginary monster under the bed that frightens children.

Dozing Green... I think it's a commentary on both social and ecological issues. It might be from the point of view of the planet?

thank you for the reply. It"s pretty usuful info, especially the blood drop pet form one!
But with Sa Bir I still think that it is something out of a mythological spiritual area, because the whole album was announced to be that way, and since Uroboros itself is already a strong and powerful symbol I really think that they are heading that way.

Oh and really a bugaboo is something likle a boogieman? that is perfect so it fits again with him being a fan of nursery rhymes and such.

What I've heard anonymous October 23 2008, 04:17:00 UTC
Ok, I know most of this is echoed elsewhere, but here is what I know/think about the titles. (NOTE: my japanese is based off of nothing, I heard them elsewhere ( ... )

thank you very much for your pov and the info. I think so far all of this makes a pretty interessting picture and already gives room for enough imagination but also some basic feeling . I can't wait for the album to finally be released...

Kaoru said that Uroboros is "stuffed with themes of 'guilt and reincarnation'. And 'Vina' means guilt’ in Russian and ‘ushk’ is a diminutive, you're right. 'Vinushka' also is a popular folklore word. It seems that Kyo is interested in Russian (remember his tattoos and the song 'Deity').xD
What about 'Sa bir', I agree to your version, but it might be something Turkish (‘bir’ means ‘one’).

hmmm, you made me think again, yes. Vina means "guilt in Rumanian as well...interesting wordroots and families here...so does it means small guilt? when is it used in russian folklore? you know anything about it? yapp, and remembering his russian usage from before and the fact that ushka is from russian... hmm...I like this, thread is getting hotter... and bir means "one" . Interessting...lets see if sa means something in Turkish as well..*googles*
ok...cant find anything...

but yeah ha!

eeeeeeee... gomen ne..))
"vinuska" has nothing to do with russian language, i'm afraid...
The word "vina" (guilt) simply doesn't have any forms with suffixes (like 'ushk-a' or any other. It's not a name either. And i've never came across this word in folklore=)) (I'm russian)
Probably this is a word from Hindi... It means:
1. fraudulent
2. crafty
3. dishonest
4. a cheat
5. a swindler
6. a deceiver
7. an impostor
Try this link anyway=)) http://www.wordanywhere.com/

hmmm XD I dont think "Vinushka" actually means those things -_-; because it says it can't find an exact match..

it might be another Eastern European word? o_o; and the other thing is that they could be spelling "vinushka" (and "sa bir" differently to what it is in the original language -__-) since I've seen "uroboros" spelt as "ouroboros"?

sorry XD I randomly found this LOL
