No, spambots, your vote still does not count, no matter how much you support Milfie. Taking into account only votes from the living, Milfie was tied with Ranpha this poll. However, certain vocal members of Team Ranpha who didn't actually vote in the poll but made their concerns known elsewhere swung the vote to her end. Remember to participate if you want a say in how this turns out, guys!

Mint's chapter. If, you know, you couldn't tell beforehand.

We go into Chrono Drive and the bridge crew starts talking about the work that needs to get done. Lester groans about having had to look after/being stuck with Tact ever since the academy... very similar to the Ranpha/Milfie situation, actually. Lester sticks up for Tact when Almo and Coco start whispering about how Lester would probably be a better commander. His rationale: "Well, you'll understand sooner or later."

More importantly, we have a bit of a problem. The bridge crew's been too busy to look after supplies, and the Elsior is starting to run low on... just about everything. Tact goes around the ship to check it out.

There's not much at all in the cafeteria today. It looks like they're running low on food. Milfie and Mint have already eaten, but by the time Tact gets there, all that's left are desserts. They only made enough for everyone, and somebody had multiple helpings. Tact resigns himself to starvation until supper.

Mint is perfectly happy with the dessert special, jelly cubes in all the colours of the rainbow. Embarrassed but hungry, Tact decides to have some... and promptly runs for a glass of water, much like he did with the Ranpha Special. The difference is, while Ranpha likes unbearably spicy food, Mint likes unbearably sweet food, and the more artificial ingredients, the better. Yuck. Tact puts "more real food" on the list of things to get so they're not forced to live off that stuff.

Ranpha comes in complaining about how the showers are on automatic timers now to save water and they've run out of shampoo. She's too late to eat anything, too, and she starts asking around... only to find that Milfie got the extra large portion of the lunch special that's causing two people to go hungry. Milfie, of course, has no idea why she's mad.

Ranpha: ...How nice for you and your luck. You always steal what I want away from me.
Milfie: ...Ranpha, what are you talking about?
Ranpha: This isn't the first time! Ever since I met you, it's always been like this. Like that time you got lost and made me late to the entrance ceremony at pilot academy! There's no way you could have gotten lost at such an opportune time!
Milfie: I remember that. How nostalgic.
Ranpha: Nostalgic!?
Tact: I thought you two were friends. Did you go through pilot school together?
Milfie: Yes, that's right! Ranpha and I have always been...
Ranpha: It seems to Milfie that we've always been together, because she always comes to me! I can't stand always being stuck with you!

Tact and Mint try to calm Ranpha down, and she sighs and walks off. Milfie gets depressed and starts sulking.

>Go after Ranpha.

The swing votes have spoken. Mint stays to cheer Milfie up, and Tact goes to the tea lounge to find Ranpha.

Tact asks about Ranpha's and Milfie's school years and says he was in a similar relationship with Lester, except it wasn't luck causing the trouble, just laziness and playing around. He tells her to try and make up with Milfie, and she says she doesn't hate her. She just hates that the good things that happen to Milfie always seem to happen at her own expense. After tsundere-ing about Milfie for a bit, Ranpha cheers up, and since the lounge has no food either, she and Tact go in search of something to eat.

They meet up with Milfie and Mint in the convenience store, and all the food's gone there, too. There's only one place to turn... and it's Mint's personal stash of the galaxy's least healthy junk food. Even Ranpha puts her worries about her complexion and diet away to go eat candy. Afterwards, Tact goes to finish inspecting the ship's stocks, and Mint decides to follow along. As the heiress to a powerful merchant corporation, she knows a lot more than he does about this sort of thing.

Roaming time!

Ranpha is camping out in the warehouse, waiting for the convenience store clerk to get the food so he can sell it to her right then and there. I guess I really can't blame her, considering what we've just gone through. Mint thinks it's pointless, but agreeing with Ranpha makes her happy, so let's go with that.

This is Milfie's way of saying we need fertilizer. She also wants more cake ingredients.

The coffee machine's busted -- paper cups aren't coming out to catch the coffee -- and it's the only vending machine that still has anything in it. There are three choices here: you can ask Mint, Forte, or Vanilla for help. Since we're doing Mint's chapter, let's go with her. Mint calls Milfie and gets her to press the button so the machine will work.

(By the way, if you choose to ask Forte for help, she shakes the vending machine just like she shook that guy out of the tree back in chapter 2. If you ask Vanilla, she won't do anything to the machine, but she'll go to the infirmary and get some tea from a hydrotherapy bath instead.)

Other highlights:
-Creta's finished analyzing what's left of the probe after Ranpha kicked it to death. It looks like it was looking for a ten-year-old child, but didn't have personal data on Shiva. Even Prince Hairbow didn't have a picture of Shiva, and he had access to everything the morons knew from last chapter. Apparently, they don't store pictures of obscure minor heirs in the same place they store Milfie's old school assignments. While we're looking for stuff that needs to be resupplied, Creta needs spare parts... and three copies of Ricky Kart's latest album.
-Forte's low on ammo. Since she uses gunpowder weapons a lot, the bill would be huge were she to get everything she wants, but she wants to put it on the list anyway. Mint tells her that she'd have more of a chance to have the request approved if there were more than one person in on it... what ideas are you giving her, Mint?
-Cera has enough medical supplies, but she needs her special blend of coffee. She drinks 13.7 cups a day. Vanilla says she doesn't need anything, but if you press her, she does need more nanomachines.
-Shotabait needs more food for the animals.

The Elsior leaves Chrono Drive, and Tact and Mint return to the bridge to report. Lester doesn't think we need all that much, and besides, where are we going to find a supplier in a system controlled by Eonia? Mint speaks up -- she knows a branch of her family's company there. The only thing she's worried about is that they might want to talk to her, and she's been trying to avoid her father as of late. Well, whatever reason there is for that, it's not important right now. The Elsior makes contact with the merchant fleet.

Oh, for crying out loud in the sink.

Eonia's automated fleet has shown up again, and it's attacking the Blancmanche ships. This is our introduction to my absolute least favourite part of this game: escort missions. We need to at least try to keep all the merchant ships alive, but it's difficult to do so; they're on the other side of the map, and you know the AI in this game by now. On the other hand, as always, losing the Elsior nets us a game over. Furthermore, this chapter's focus character, Mint, has the lowest affection out of anybody right now, making her day-in-the-limelight effectiveness boost relatively worthless. So, it's up to you. That's right: even though the next part is an RTS segment, I'm putting up a poll.

Poll

It will, of course, be better for everyone if we manage both, but the choice has affection point consequences, too. I'm leaving this up to you.
