Vanir and Vanatru Independence

A Declaration of Independence

All of the Vanir are free. Long ago as part of the truce to end the great war the Vanir gave as hostages to their Aesir enemies two of their best: Njordr and Freyr. The Aesir cheated the Vanir. They gave not their best in return. Thereby the Aesir nullified the treaty and forfeited their right to keep the Vanir’s best. That the story of Njordr’s and Freyr’s release is lost matters not at all. Njordr, Freyr and all of the Vanir are free.

The Vanir are second to none. They are free from false comparisons to the Aesir or any other family of goddesses and gods. They are complete in and of themselves and need not the Aesir or any other goddesses and gods.

The Vanir are free from all historical and cultural limitations. While Aesiric lore mentions the Vanir, there is far more to the Vanir than what is mentioned there. The Vanir are alive, present, free and available to all regardless of lineage, location, language or learning.

The Vanatru are free. We are free from the Aesir, those true to them and all others as well. We are free to be true to the Vanir alone if we so choose. We are also free to relate with other goddesses and gods, if we so choose, as long as we remain Vanatru.

We Vanatru are second to none. We are free to live and act on our own, independently of those who are true to the Aesir or other goddesses and gods. We are complete in and of ourselves and need no other troth.

We Vanatru are free to be true to the Vanir wherever we are, within our own culture and circumstances. We are free to be true in our own ways, independent of all others. We are also free to unite with others as we please, as long as we remain Vanatru.

aesir, vanatru, asatru, independence, vanir
