First official golf outing of the season!
I was doing all right until the third hole. I hit the ball. It went into the rough by a clump of trees. I nodded to the guy on the lawnmower who stopped mowing while I hit. The ball went all of twenty yards. I followed it and hit it again. It was a beautiful shot with a five iron, swing felt awesome, the ball soared... into a tree.
It knocked around in the upper branches. It displaced a few leaves. It fell ten yards from my feet. I nodded at the guy on the mower again. I shrugged at Terri. I walked to my ball and lined up.
This time, I hit a beautiful shot that arced upward... INTO THE SAME GODDAMN TREE.
I couldn't help it. I laughed loudly through a shouted, "FUCK!"
The guy on the mower laughed.
I ended up with a 50. Not bad for my first time out of the season! Terri also shot a 50. It was an incredibly delightful afternoon of fun times and moderate displays of athleticism.
Best part? While I was hitting the links, my students were ostensibly studying for the final exam I gave tonight.
