Title: 11 - Living for the weekend
Author:
littlesumo
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Kelly/Dan
Disclaimer: This is fiction; not true.
A/N: This was meant to be a filler for the yet unwritten weekend ficlet and suddenly turned into it on its own. And it's kinda long compared to the others. (that's why haven't packed yet either *sigh*)
It's Flash Forward happening to the LFC guys (watch the show if you're not familiar with it ;) But I think I have explained it reasonably well for anyone not knowing it)

On 9 March 2012, the planet blacked out for two minutes and seventeen seconds. The whole world saw the future.

He was jittery, the kind that couldn't decide if it was excited or nervous. He was in a hotel bathroom, which was not unusual in his profession. His hands were left and right of the sink and he was leaning heavily on them, watching his own face in the mirror. His eyes wanted to glance to the side and he finally gave in and looked at the pack of condoms and the bottle of lube resting there.

He heard a noise outside the door and when he turned towards it, found it only ajar, he could see a man. He didn't recognise him straight away, but surely it must have been one of his team mates he was sharing a room with. Only the jittery feeling suddenly exploded into butterflies in his stomach.

With determination he grabbed lube and condoms and pushed the door open. His mouth was immediately attacked and he closed his eyes against the onslaught, the feelings overwhelming and wrenching a groan from his throat.

He reached out and carded his hands through the hair of the man kissing him and started to open his eyes.

Daniel's face swam into view, concern edged all over it, a trickle of blood down his eyebrow.

“Martin, Martin, are you OK? Kells, can you hear me?”

Martin lifted a hand to rub over his face, noticing that he was lying sprawled out on the grass of the training grounds.

“Yeah, what happened?”

Daniel lent him a hand to pull him up.

“I don't know. One second I'm running drills, the next I wake up on the ground, my face on Glen's boots.” He distractedly swiped at his face, getting rid of a drop of blood trickling by his eye.

Martin looked around and noticed that everywhere around him his team mates were only coming to as well, some looking more bumped up than others, but all in all everyone seemed to be fine.

10 March 2012

They were all lucky, despite the millions and millions of dead people, none of the families or friends of the LFC staff and players were seriously harmed. Very lucky.

Their state of mind was another thing though, he knew that some of his team mates had seen things not so pleasant and a counsellor had been brought in, the first session mandatory. Martin had told her quite openly about what he had seen, only left out details like the lube and the fact that his partner was a man. Confidentiality was one thing, his career another, more important one.

They talked among themselves too of course, a lot of his friends had also e-mailed and texted him, exchanging stories.

But the ones that didn't say anything worried him the most.

6 October 2012

“I know what I saw! I remember!”

“You think you saw a man with tattooed arms! How many people does that include? Hundreds! Hell, even Skrtel has full sleeves!”

“But I know it was you! You must have seen me as well. You kissed me!”

Daniel walked into Martin's personal space, his voice dangerously low.

“Do you really want to know what I saw?”

27 April 2012

“What you saw is bothering you, I can see that. What does the counsellor say?”

Martin looked at the Dane curiously, who had turned around and was busying himself with packing his stuff into his bag.

“That's confidential. You don't need to concern yourself with that.”

Martin got up from where he sat on the bench, walking over and touching the other between the shoulder blades, moving them up to his neck, then down again.

Daniel looked over his shoulder, questioning look at the over-familiarity, but didn't say anything, just stepped forward so Martin had to let his hand fall down again.

6 October 2012

Martin nodded mutely and Daniel's face got even closer.

“I was at home. In Denmark. My wife was cooking in the kitchen, calling out to me, and I could hear my son playing in the sitting room.”

Martin reared back, not believing his ears.

“That's not possible!”

“Face it, it's the truth. Find yourself someone else with tattoos and leave me alone!”

13 July 2012

“Is Dan avoiding me?”

Martin did his stretches beside the other Martin, keeping his voice down so no one else could overhear him.

Skrtel side-eyed him, bending down to his feet.

“Does he have reason to?”

“I may have bothered him too much about his Flash Forward.”

“You need to let that go. If Dan is not willing to tell you, you should accept that.”

“He told you what he saw?”

Skrtel's silence was answer enough.

12 June 2012

Maybe it was because Martin was always around, having it made his mission to help Daniel over what ever was bothering him about his Flash Forward - and falling for the man subsequently, quick and hard - but Daniel let him in, allowed him into his life, forging a friendship, allowed him to get physically closer as well.

Only didn't let him into his head regarding the blackout.

2 October 2012

Daniel looked helpless and sad and Martin thought nothing of hugging him tight, sliding his fingers over the back of his head, into his hair.

And then froze at the all too familiar feeling.

8 March 2013

“I lied about my Flash Forward.”

29 September 2012

He didn't eavesdrop on purpose, just went by a room and could hear Daniel and Skrtel inside.

“But you l-”

“I'm not good enough. And I'm not going to ruin a career.”

The way Skrtel sighed and then a door slammed, made it quite clear that Martin had only caught the end of that conversation.

9 March 2013

He was jittery, the kind that couldn't decide if it was excited or nervous. It was happening, what he had seen was finally happening. Didn't make it any easier though. He watched his own face in the mirror over the sink, for a moment wondering what others saw there. His eyes wanted to glance to the side, he knew what was there, seeing it would suddenly make it all the more real, but he finally gave in and looked at the pack of condoms and the bottle of lube resting there.

He heard a noise outside the door and when he turned towards it, found it only ajar, he could see a man. His man, as cheesy as that sounded. But Martin didn't care. A year long journey finally found an end. The jittery feeling suddenly exploded into butterflies in his stomach.

With determination he grabbed lube and condoms and pushed the door open. His mouth was immediately attacked and he closed his eyes against the onslaught, the feelings overwhelming and wrenching a groan from his throat.

He reached out and carded his hands through the hair under his finger tips and started to open his eyes. Daniel looked back at him, a smile so gentle on his face, Martin's heart was about to jump from his throat.

“I love you and it took me only a year to realise.”

Martin chuckled and leaned in for another kiss, a prelude to more, a night unforgettable, a future blessfully in the shadows.
