I appreciate all the hoopla and good feelings in the gay community over the vote to repeal DADT.  It's a great step in the right direction.  It's also a policy that I might add which will stay in place even once it is signed into law - possibly for quite some ( Read more... )

Snowed in today appropriately enough on the eve of the Winter Solstice.  We got about twenty inches of snow yesterday.  Wonderful, fluffy powder.  Beautiful, if only there was not so much of it.  Our driveway is such that we really can't shovel it, so when it snows like this, we are really stuck in the house even with 4WD vehicles.  No worries, we ( Read more... )

I'm towards the end of reading (okay, audio book - being read to me) Isaacson's biography of Einstein.  It's a great book.  Very enjoyable.  I have Franklin's bio as well, but haven't read it yet.  I've always been fascinated by Einstein and relativity.  I remember reading about it when I was in junior high school.  Sadly, I lack the math for a ( Read more... )

Spent many of my "free" hours in Afghanistan working on re-writing my Book of Shadows.  I'm done with the bulk of it, but still have some work to do on it.  My last BoS is literally falling apart.  Unfortunately, I also used the book for my Tarot notes.  So I am now re-writing them in their own notebook, while reviewing and meditating on the cards ( Read more... )

I am really looking forward to the Midsummer gathering.  We had such a good time at the Beltane gathering.  We hadn't been to a gathering in such a long time, and is one of the primary reasons we are on sabbatical.  That said, we want to integrate at least one, probably two gatherings (probably Beltane and Mabon since they are local) a year as part ( Read more... )
