Hi! We're in Maryland.

Yep, Sitting in Bowie right now. We (David and I ) got here late late on Tuesday. Spent Wednesday driving around DC trying to find a parking spot near the bank and failing miserably and battling mild food poisoning brought on by Safeway's salad bar. After several days of pizza and burgers I thought we should have something healthy turned out to either be tainted or a horrible shock to both David and my systems.

Thursday AM Steve got back. Oh yeah, last Thursday they said "oh, BTW your first day (Monday) is in California". I hope this lack of advanced notice is not common at his new job. I don't mind him traveling but this little gem set off a cascade of plan/moving changes that was just a huge PITA. I ended up cramming my car with stuff that was supposed to be split into 2 cars plus baby and driving non-stop to MD. There were about a million other little plans to rearrange and a flurry (pun) of travel plans for Steve to go off and make. This was followed on Sunday by another flurry of rearranging because it was going to snow. Turned out to be almost nothing but it was one of those storms that could have been minor or fucking horrible. Turns out we were lucky but in preparation the airlines pre-canceled all their Monday AM flights.

Thursday I went to Bethesda in the snow which after the past overreaction to snow. I found a metered parking spot easily as it was across the street from where I used to work but finding the actual bank was another matter. I put 42 minutes on the meter and thought it was too much but I was expired by the time I got back and it was only a 2 block walk to the bank. I found the address no problem but the bank was just in an office on the second floor of this office building. Mean while there were 2 other banks on the first floor of this huge building. I guess I spent a long time wandering around. I finally found the place and honestly it was something out of a Monty Python skit -- a guy in an office, that was it. I have never been in a bank like it. But I got my business done and the guy was nice even though sometimes I had a hard time understanding him.

I did all the bank leg work to get a certified check for our house closing. I was supposed to do this before I left NY but by the time we let home we had only minutes before the cable office closed so I could return the box. I knew there were HSBCs in DC and that I would have oodles more time once in MD so I left it. Wednesday our agent calls us and tells me there is a problem with the closing. Not on our part but only a minor pain. Mostly because I only brought a few days worth of clothes and drugs. Clothes can be washed and hopefully this problem can be taken care of before the week is up. We did not want to close this early anyway, we wanted March. The seller wanted January 17 and gave us nearly everything else we wanted except moving the date. Turns out he didn't have all the paperwork done that needed to be from his purchase of the house. He bought it auction and flipped it but some judge had to sign off on the foreclosure paperwork and at least last week this judge was only in the office on Tuesday. Crazy, I wish I could only work Tuesdays.

So Friday, Steve was still recovering from trip and moving I was feeling a bit better because David and I had had our first normalish day for a while. Saturday was even better but daddy had to work. Sunday we hit Grace's and we weren't disappointed. Of course by the time we got there we were starving because we had to work david's nap in there which is right around lunch time. I was exhausted after that and dropped Steve off to look at dishwashers. I went back to the hotel to sleep as much as you can with a little monkey boy.

So today Steve does not have off. I'm going to check out a day care tomorrow. That will be a whole new adventure. They already told me they can not take him until he's 2 because they only have 2 full 18 month old slots. At 2 years there are a lot more options and it gets a lot cheaper.
