I learned something this past weekend.
No, I'm not referring to the fact that driving 4 hours to go running around in 90+ degree weather in multiple layers of heavy cloth is a sucker's game. I knew that already.
I learned that when it comes to cute little children, the St. Blaise town criers (or at least those of us who've attended the last two faires) are a bunch of saps. A little person caught our collective eye while we were attending her Majesty at the joust and we all ended up huddled around him; tickling little toes, making faces and poking sides. We even let him play with Screwy's ding-a-ling. This was but one of many exhibitions of kiddie-related sappiness that took place this weekend.
No wonder we have a fuzzy widdle squirrel for a mascot.
We were once again very well received, and while the heat did prove to be a serious challenge to our enthusiasm (Devon's suggestion of suicide as means of escaping the unrelenting sun did sound quite appealing at one point), I think we held up alright.
