what's the best kind of pot or spaghetti cookware that yall would suggest? i've been using the same pot for the past 8 years more or less but it seems the longer pastas (fetuccine, linguini, spaghetti) tend to have a few pieces that are not thoroughly cooked. now, i can usually pick out the partially cooked pieces out, but sometimes it's just an ( Read more... )

Okay all you fabulous bakers out there: help me out! I got one of those nifty silicone muffin pans. YOu know, the super non-stick flexible kind. Problem: baked muffins in it and the ones around the edge got done but the ones in the middle didn't. Thanks to everyone who posted recommendations for cookware...as it turns out, my father discovered a box of my grandmother's Farberware and RevereWare pots in the attic, yay! Plus some nice knives and a rather lovely little RevereWare kettle. So I am now set and happy with my new stuff.

I got a couple of new toys in my kitchen today. :)

I've got a pan that has been subject to too much heat, leaving the bottom in need of some dire cleaning. Mom always used soft scrub for the underneath of pans that have been treated this way, but that takes a lot of patience and a lot of elbow grease. Anybody have any other ideas?
