My hubby and I were just at the local supermarket when we spotted a table that had asian sauces and other condiments for up to 75% off of their original price.
Examples: 10 ounces of Mirin for $1.85
12.7 ounces of Natural Rice Vinegar for .80
28.35 grams of Shiitake mushrooms for $1.10
4 ounces of candied ginger for .60
Are these good prices, or what?!
I have a question about a couple of these. What's the difference between Rice Wine Vinegar and what I bought, Natural Rice Vinegar?
Also, what exactly is Mirin? It says it's sweet cooking rice wine. . .how sweet is it? What can I do with it? I've seen some recipes for it in teriyaki sauce but that's about it.
Any input would be lovely, guys. . .and have a great day!
