Pirates 4.

Watched Pirates 4 again tonight. Loved it even more so. I must be one of the only people enjoyed the original first 3 movies, yes all of them, but I really really did.

The two things that made it for me: the more obvious 1) The mermaids. That they mixed Siren's into them. Made them the evil temptresses and nothing all like The Little Mermaid (I hate that movie, it is to Mermaid Myth what Twilight is to Vampires). Though I am not sure if it was intended or not, but that Syrena couldn't walk without it being painful? Hans Christian Anderson reference! At least that's what I thought. This series never made me feel anything but happy about it. Also that beyond the occasional "actually, the pirates are skeletons" or "I know you don't believe in superstition" "... I've seen a thing or two." moment, everyone treats it as completely normal. Like. Damn. "Yes, there are mermaids and these are my zombies. Also, heard about Davy Jones, bit sad really, we used to enjoy a nice lunch every other Tuesday. Glad to see that pesky curse wore off, always bit awkward when a rib cage is showing."

2) The music. AND OH, HANS ZIMMER, HOW YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT ME. Tying into the first point, THE MERMAID MUSIC, is amazing. Guh. I am humming the Jolly Sailor Bold to myself all the time. (I love how he uses that, just the simple sea song, like Hoist the Colours and the song from the ride.) You do it every single time, music so incredible, it makes me tingle. But always keep that main theme (you know the one, you know you do) but add so much too it! Haven't explored further just yet, and I think I am really going to dig the Spanish guitars, BUT SOON I SHALL FIND OUT.

Jolly Sailor Bold -- Really really nice cover and sounds just like the movie too! I can't find the one sung in the movie, but this is just as good.

Mermaids -- the soundtrack, track 5. Listen how it builds, from the haunting echo of the Sailor Song, then the drums, then the chanting, still all women and so magical~ Then the drums and the truth is revealed, a slight jar like glass breaking and BAM, it goes to hell. Oh, beauty is to be found in the swell of music.

Unrelated: IT'SCOLD. It hit 9 deg the other night. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I APPLY SOCK THEORY, my feetsess are still so cold. hurn. ;===;

Also Unrelated: THEY'RE MAKING A MOVIE FROM THE SPOOKS APPRENTICE SERIES, and they are calling it The Seventh Son? Which I guess it's a darker title then The Spook's Apprentice. And THE MISSIONARY GUY FROM PIRATES IS PLAYING TOM. I really want them to play up the horror aspect of that movie. It'd be so good.

fuck yes!, jammin to muzak, fuck. yes, hell yeah, pirates!
