Ten things about your past.

01. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. My father had offers of promotions to take over other DOJ field offices in places like San Antonio but he never wanted to move our family.

02. I played varsity softball and ran track through college. I hold a University of Maryland track record in the outdoor 1500 meters, and two more intramural softball records for games played and stolen bases (we didn't get an official softball team until 1992).

03. After running that record 1500, I was invited to the trials for the U.S. national track team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. I didn't go.

04. I've always preferred to be the sidekick: to my siblings, to my father, and to my partners. I'm just more comfortable that way.

05. No matter what I say, my mother didn't start being a bitch until my father died. I'm convinced it's because of his death that she hates what I do for a living.

06. I shared an off-campus apartment with my brother through college, and it was actually pretty great. I only shared a baseball field with him (officially) once, on Senior Day, and it was one of the neatest things I've ever done.

07. I know all the words to every Earth, Wind and Fire song, period. I also have tickets to see the New Kids on the Block.

08. Though I haven't socialized with any of them in years I still know the names of everyone who worked with my father. I just don't like staying in touch because it reminds me that he's gone.

09. My first childhood ambition was to be the starting shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles. Then this guy named Cal Ripken, Jr. came along and I decided I'd rather just admire him instead.

10. I once played powder puff football, which resulted in my knocking the coach's daughter nearly unconscious.
