Yesterday was my turn at the pumpkin patch again. It was either drizzly or pelted down rain the whole time, but since there is only a week to go I still sold $109. It wasn't too miserable, because I sat in my car and read. In the afternoon
I visited 6 furniture stores to try to find a stand for our new TV. We currently have it on the old stand, which has the footprint of the 37" tube TV. We want something closer to the footprint of a flat screen. I started out at Raymour & Flanagan, then Target, Bobs, Walmart, Bassett, and Puritan. The reason I had so much trouble was that I wanted a stand less than 39" wide, so that we won't have to rearrange our furniture. I was all over the map -- Target (the low end store) and Bassett (the expensive store) at least had something that was almost good enough, but Puritan ended up having exactly what I wanted -- 38" wide, 30" tall, with 3 shelves for DVDs etc, and holes for wires in the back.
Last night we went to dinner at Saybrook Fish House with friends to celebrate Michael's 60th birthday. Everybody seemed to have a good time.
This morning I played "I'm Gonna Sing" with the kids playing chords on the bells. This is a kind of boring piece, but the choir director suggested I improvise, so I made it much more interesting and fun. It was really fun to write it out and experiment with what I wanted to do. It came out kind of like a Snoopy happy dance.
This afternoon we went to see "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". They hyped it so much that I thought maybe I would like it this time, but I still found it boring. It is so stylized that it is impossible to sympathise with any of the characters. However, the weather was glorious today, so it was a gorgeous drive down to Haddam.
