After much discussion with everyone involved, we decided to cancel our trip. I called Expedia today and canceled the tickets. I want to travel to Florida for my dad's 90th birthday on February 28th, but I thought, "What if I still can't travel by then?" I'm pretty sure I will be able to, but it's not 100% certain. So I didn't rebook. Hopefully the tickets don't get a lot more expensive while I am waiting to find out if I can go, but I don't want to have to pay a second change fee. It will cost us $150/ticket to change, plus a $30 charge/ticket from Expedia. Also, we have to book with United, since the original tickets were with them, so we can't get the cheapest tickets. However, the tickets she quoted me were cheaper than our original ones, so we would have only paid $200 more. Whatever we pay is hopefully going to be paid by the other driver's insurance company.
The one upside of this is that I get to participate in the special Christmas music at church. I will be playing several things for the 7 PM service. For the 11 PM service there is a harpist, who was booked before I knew I wasn't going. I am really looking forward to hearing her!
