*hi-fives her ancestors*
Thanks to the 1851 census, another brick wall may have just came tumbling down.
My ancestor Phoebe Welch married John Laurence in Hitchin and had about eight children. John died in 1839, so never made it to a census, and I couldn't find a likely match for him in the baptisms of Hitchin.
However, I just found a William and Hannah Laurence living in Hitchin in 1851, just old enough to be his parents... and with a grandon named William Welch living with them.
I still have to prove the connection, but I don't think it's a coincidence.
Like I'm going to get any sleep NOW!
