When in Florence, update your journal at least 17 times per day...

Anyway, I guess I should make this quick as I've already posted today and I've been on this computer for about 40 minutes already (thankfully this is a school computer so I don't have to pay for it!!!).

But I just wanted to say that I went to my first Cathedral and museum today!!!!!!!! After my Italian class this afternoon I head over to the Duomo and I went inside. I was of course, awestruck, but somehow it actually wasn't quite as impressive as I have imagined. I mean, on the inside I think it's one of the less-impressive ones, though the outside is ridiculously amazing (it's so great, I get to walk by it like every day! I love it). But then I went to the Duomo Museum, which I unfortunately had to pay 6 euros for (blah), and it was very nice. Inside this museum they have all the original statues and other stuff that have been taken down from the Duomo and Campanile (bell tower) and replaced with copies. It's really great because you can see the originals up close and they're no longer being damaged from the weather, etc. I think it's actually a pretty good thing. But the BEST thing in the museum was Donatello's Penetant Magdalene. I swear, I almost cried. We had looked at this peice in my Renaissance Art class and I had totally blown it off as a sortof rough, wierd peice that was nothing compared to Donatello's David. I was wrong. Seeing it in person was just a completely amazing experience and I am SO GLAD I'M HERE.

Anyway. That's about all for now, I guess. Tomorrow: THE UFFIZI. YES!!!!!!
