Au Ver a Soie is a French company that has been making silk embroidery thread since 1820. They only sell to resellers, but for the last few years, they have been having a Night of Embroidery "open house". Attendance is limited and it requires an appointment time to regulate the flow of traffic, but my neighbor was able to get us a place!
heileen met us there and we had a great time oohing and aaahing over the old place and aaaall the beautiful threads. It was very hard to choose only a few -- I really wanted one of everything!! Thank goodness I had friends giving good advice.

The next day I went to the annual international needlework expo. I only got a couple spools of thread, because I had already blown my wad at Au Ver a Soie the night before. But it is always very inspiring to see so much creativity in one place. The special exhibit this year was on lace, but I wasn't that impressed. Lots of modern artists... :P This little black dress caught my eye though. On closer inspection, it was a Lanvin, 1958. Of course. :D
and I don't know why it displays sideways. I can't make it behave. :P
