Labor Day Weekend

Sep 04, 2007 21:07

Friday: Went and saw Super Bad for the second time. Then hit the Horseshoe for some Cheese fries.

Saturday: Packed up all my camping necessities then hung out with my parents til 1:00 when Kari got off work. And we were off! The drive to Inspiration Point (in Gig Harbor) went actually pretty quickly. Pretty much no traffic. We rolled in at about 4:00 and joined the rest of the family by mixing a couple drinks and kicking back. Ken's brother and family came by for a little while with their new heard of Golden-doodle puppies. There were ten of those little rascals running around. It was like being attacked by a wave of cuteness! Crazy little scamps.
Later on we all moved up to the bonfire area and Ken lit it up. Damn was that thing huge! And toasty!
We all got to dig into some delicious Sponge Bob birthday cake for Reese's 9th Birthday. Delicious, BTW, became the word of the weekend. There was Delicious food, Delicious Plums (prunes, Whatever!), Delicious Drinks (lime vodka takes Amber Alert's to a whole new level) and the weekend itself, just fucking Delicious!! :-P
When bugs started bugging us, I pulled out my Bug Zapper racket. Everyone was having tons of fun with that thing. Tom couldn't get enough, running around playing tennis with termites. Hilarious!
I had a little fun by throw some old fireworks in the fire and Kari and I did some target practicing with the Airsoft guns and some beer cans. Gary and Ken ended up getting them taken away when they started shooting each other :-P Eventually we all called it a night and retired to our tents.

Golf Cart Fun

Sunday: Upon awaking the next morning I decided I wanted a shower. My hair and camping just don't mix. So after breakfast Kari and I went with Kristal to check out their house and clean up a bit. As an added bonus I got to see Elliot again. He was pretty much snooty as always. He let me pet him a bit but when he was done he was gone.
I LOVE the view from Ken and Kristal's place. I really wouldn't mind getting a place of my own over there one day. Everything is just so green and peaceful. ahhhhhh :-D
Of course half way back to IP I realized I'd left my camera at the house. So Kari and I made a trip back for it which I really didn't mind at all. The Road over there a SO fun to drive on! The hills are crazy and the scenery is gorgeous!
That night we all gathered around the usual fire pit for burgers and some live music with Ken and Kristal's drums and Eric on guitar. There was a bit a bitching from a few of those less musically inclined but we just kept playing. We locking in to some pretty good stuff a few times. Campfire jams are just a lot of fun :-)
After awhile Kari had to get her Karaoke fix in so we both sang I Will Survive acappella. I was either really drunk or we were just really good. Either way everyone was really into it. Gary said he almost wanted to get up and start dancing :-P

Monday: Woke up pretty early, packed everything up, in really record time I might add. Kari and I are like tent masters or something, anyway. We made our round of goodbyes and headed out. Allie was so cute, she really thought she'd be going with us. Then of course she had the heartbreaking stare on her face.
On our way out we grabbed breakfast at McDonalds. Boy was that a mistake. I won't get into too much but I did end up with syrup all over my lap! Damn you Hot Cakes!! I dropped Kari off in Burlington and Headed back to B-ham.
Later on I went over to Aaron, Kayser, Cody, and Matt's new place (still yet to be nicknamed for convenience) for some Tasty Grillin'. Gary was in top form! Grilled meats have never been so tasty! :-)
Then it was back to my place to relax a bit before heading back to work. I finally watched the movie Donnie Darko and I have to say I REALLY don't get what all the fuss is about. That movie just did absolutely nothing for me. I mean did I miss the underlying message? Was there a significance to any of it? Or was it really just some random events that all connected in the end? LoL, whatever.

Super Fun weekend! I feel like I'm on a streak of these. And I hope they never end!
Next week: Party at Kaleb and Steph's! Can't wait!! :-D
