Yay for the weekends!! Without you my life would be without meaning :-P
Okay lets see here....
Friday: Rather laid back which was nice since I was going to need my energy the next couple of days. Went to the new
Fiamma burger which is across the street from my place with Aaron and Emily. That was actually more of an experience then I expected it to be. The place was super nice looking inside. I could barely believe we were still on Railroad. They also had
Orangina which I thought I'd have to go back to Canada to ever have again. The weird part though was sitting at the bar to eat, which is pretty much right out on the sidewalk facing the street. Something about sitting there makes you feel like your just watching everything going on outside around you while no one can see you, when in fact people are walking by and watching you eat. I guess just having the bar there as a barrier makes you feel like your separated from the world around you. That sense is broken though when a passer by stops to talk to you :-P
So far the place has been doing pretty well. But I really think their kind of asking for trouble the way their set up. Located only about twenty feet away from the skeeziest corner on Railroad Ave., Open until 2am, putting seating right out on the sidewalk, and a completely open store front. It won't be long before shit goes down at that place. And I've got a front row overhead view of the action from my apartment :-D
So later that night Emily and I helped Aaron move a few more things to his new place. It was my first time seeing it so I explored the layout. Its a really nice place. Lots of space for everyone (aside from a pretty cramped band room :-) Its gonna be a really cool place for all of the guys. I really like Aaron and Kayser's upstairs area. Especially their enormous bathroom! At first I thought Aaron was being silly when he said they were gonna put a couch in it. But after seeing it, it only makes sense. It'd be way too empty without some sort of furniture in there. Plus I'm sure its gonna be a favorite hangout for many :-P
Rock Band Saturday: After a bit of a late start due to some accidental sleeping in on both Aaron and my part,
Gamespeek was on it's way to
PAX. Before actually arriving, we stopped and picked up one Mr. Ben Bethea as well. It was pretty obvious we had arrived at the location of the even when we could looked around and realized we were swimming in a sea of nerds. The smell of Cheese Doodles and virginity was a potent one J/k :-D..... mostly
Many exciting things awaited us inside. There was a playable demo of
Castle Crashers, A stage for playing
Rock Band with your friends, Many areas with open laptops for playing new PC games.
Mega 64 had a booth for selling their crazy videos (I think Gamespeek's videos are better :-). There were also a few characters walking around. I saw a Really amazing Link costume go by. Aaron ALMOST had a sweet picture with Master Chief but was thwarted by Ben's failing batteries. All was made better though when he got a picture with
Parappa. I got to pretend like I was running from a
Big Daddy. I also saw a pretty sweet Cloud go by and a pretty lame Samus.
There was ever so much swag, mostly stupid stickers and post cards. But we did get a couple cool shirts and I bought some really awesome wall scrolls for FFX2 as well as a Dante one for Kari.
In all, totally worth the $30 to get in, and a wonderful way for me to get my feet wet before going to E for All in October.
After PAX we all had dinner at the Spaghetti Factory then went back to Ben's place for a really fun drunken night of Munchkin. I thought the game was hard to keep track of before! Wow! It was so fun playing again though. It had been far too long.
Sunday: Another late morning. We all finally got up around 11:30 and made our way to the Pancake Corral. Ben and I passed the time waiting to be seated by seeing who could hold their legs out straight the longest while sitting on a bench. I eventually won when Aaron and Lauren pushed Ben's feet to the ground, Then we held our arms out. That one ended in a tie when they called our name to be seated.
Breakfast was Super Yummy!! The dollar sized pancakes were wonderful beyond belief.
After being energized by deliciosity, We briefly stopped back at Ben's place so that he and I might dual with his wooden swords. I must say wielding a sword takes a lot more strength and energy then I imagined it would. Also it VERY hard to predict an opponents next move. I was able to hold my own a awhile but in the end Ben was the victor. Being stabbing square in the chest is a very surreal feeling. :-)
So once again we hit the road and headed back north. We pulled into Stephanie's parents place on Big Lake about 5:30 (traffic was a bitch) There we congratulated Kaleb on new Masters degree and we all consumed food and Ice Cream cake. We couldn't stay long, but we made plans to visit Kaleb and Steph soon so that we could all see their new place and catch up on things.
Once back in Bellingham I rounded out the weekend by hanging out with Heather and her friends who just moved into their new place across the street. They have a lovely view of the back of the Bank. Very urban :-P I was also given the wonderful title of C1 since they know so many Chris's.
Quite the eventful weekend. I'm really excited that so many of my friends have moved into such a close proximity to my place.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone a whole lot more without necessarily having to drive to their places. I don't think I could ask for a better place to be right now.
