And Zan! I got your package today &hearts! Incredible timing!!

So, birthdays at our place tend to be all day affairs--we hide presents around the house in evil ways and then cackle as the other person haplessly looks right at them and ( Read more... )

EEEEEEE! POLISH&hearts I see all those Essence polishes in the front and am so jealous--The polish blogs have such nice things to say about Essence and their different collections, but al we can get around here are the tiny $1 bottles in maybe 15 colors I wonder if there would be better pickins on the coasts or if it's a general issue in the US.

What's that beautiful green flakie-looking polish third from the left in the front row? It's GORGEOUS!

And you know, that makes at least 4 of us that I know of personally who simultaneously obsess over boybandery and nail polish! Do you have a very favorite polish? Or a brand that you would recommend, since I seem to be branching out to international polishes?

I have the Lippman Happy Birthday, but haven't been using it--went crazy on the different confetti polishes--maybe I have . . . 6 or 7 or so?--but haven't used a single one :P I hear they are a serious bitch to remove, even with foil :P BUT I intend to light those babies up over the holidays ^_^v Though they will have to compete with all of the green and red and gold glitters. *muses*

I kind of wish I had bought the pink and black versions of Happy Birthday this summer when I had the chance, but didm't . . I wonder if Nordstrom's still has them--but there's a Matsufab magenta that just came out that I will want, and I'm tempted by the newest holiday one, Stairway to Heaven just for the name, and those things are expensive. Honestly, for the $$, maybe I should just save up for some Nfu Oh flakie and holo goodness ^^;

And you can post me polish pictures anytime! It's really sad how many nail blogs I'm subscribed to at this point, and I probably bore the Boy to tears when I squee over them ^^; Though he does enable me ^^; I also love the fandom/polish integration&hearts

If/when we tempura the avocado and the shortcake, there shall be pictures! (I promise not to tempura them together ^^;) OMG--tempura marshmallows, too.

YUM&hearts

PS--lj tells me I'm not friended to you? wth?? I'll go reciprocate that RIGHT NOW ^^;

Awww your comment totally made my night! I love that sense of solidarity that instantly comes over you when you realise you're in the company of a fellow addict... then you start talking polish haha. It's a lot like fandom that way. I consider nail polish one of my fandoms anyway! I bore everyone. I totally checked out your nails when you posted that photo of your coffee mug but I didn't know then that you were a fellow enthusiast!

I don't even know where to begin on the subject of international brands! I love Japanese and European brands so much! I don't really own OPI, China Glazes, etc. Just today though I got an Aussie swap package of BYS polishes so they didn't make it into the photos but I'm in love with them! My favourite brands are still Estessimo TiNS and catrice.

Essence is great! They were here for only a few days though (Singapore doesn't carry them) so you're luckier there! Plus the US is so good for cheap and good polish! Singapore is very, very expensive a lot of the times.

I want Lippmann's Stairway to Heaven too but I wouldn't pay for it. I hope they still have the set with Candy Shop and Forget You so you can get them! Apparently the Happy Birthday bundled with them is slightly different? I think you'd like a-england polishes!

The bottle in question is Golden Rose Scale Effects 06 and wow I'm surprised you can make out so much detail from the crappy photos!

I think you already have a Singaporean friend who sends you polish but if you do have anything you'd like to try you can always tell me and I'll see what I can find around over here.

Tempura avocado sounds brilliant.

I love that sense of solidarity that instantly comes over you when you realise you're in the company of a fellow addict... then you start talking polish haha.

It's true, right? I think it's the one-two punch of a) SEE, I'm not crazy; there's another one out there! and b) woo-hoo! Now I get to chat about this with impunity!! It's so dangerous though--the blogs make me want Korean, Australian, Brazilian and European polishes that might start out cheap but . . . wow, shipping ^^; Clearly, the responsible thing to do is travel!

After seeing this comment, I went to look at TiNS and sooooo pretty!!! we only have some of the smaller Essence polishes, though I did see a display of these yesterday (at least the greyish/purple one, the blue one and the white one, for $2 each at an Ulta. I haven't tried them yet myself, but the swatches look nice, and they're full size bottles! Or at least much bigger than the $1 bottles. (Let me know if you like them; I'd be happy to send some your way ^_^v I am a notorious enabler!)

I went to see if they had the Let's get this party Started set, but no dice, which is probably for the best. I did walk out with DL Supermodel and Call me Irresponsible for doing jelly sandwich manis on. But having found that post, I kind of want to check out the Milani neons--it looks like the purple at least, is a jelly? and they're really cheap and have some fab colors.

*sighs*

I should not do that ^^;; I'm courting 3 or 4 DL polishes still (Razzle Dazzle, Good Girls gone bad, today was a fairytale and . . . something else, but I can't remember now. I remember liking it a lot, though . . . so well I can't remember? BAD FLANGE. $60 for four polishes . . . . I'm not sure a birthday warrants that, especially when I already rewarded myself with the AAA Dome concert pamphlet, which should get here any day. ^^;

The bottle in question is Golden Rose Scale Effects 06

Oooooh! I can buy Golden Rose online here, but the American distribution site doesn't include the scale effects D: I am eying their holos (even if they tend to be a bit on the weak side) and their big confetti glitters.

Are there any US colors/brands you're curious about/lemming? I did some very bad things RE the new Color Club and Misa collections, but at least I found them on a $3/bottle site ^^;

Mmmmm avocado tempura--we had it first in New Jersey and it's really delicious--as are tempura marshmallows and strawberry shortcake, courtesy of Shukudai--all of these are on our menu for tomorrow night ^_^v

*flails*

I think that's one of my favourite pamphlets. Aiba and Jun look particularly good in that one as well!

Lippmann Supermodel is fantastic! Jelly is my favourite finish by the way, what's yours? I only own Glitter in the Air. I don't remember seeing that on your post but you do have Across the Universe! Along with other Lippmanns, I mean. I'm guessing the Essence bottles you mentioned are 5ml? European brands are brilliant, brilliant, I say again.

I think I'm in love with BB Coutures. They seem kind of indie to me too.

Other US colours/brands... I did have a very kind swapper in LA CP me some bottles I'd been wanting. I think I'm also interested in Nubar Boyfriend Jeans (do you like Nubar?), Dare To Wear Ocean View and possibly China Glaze Poinsettia from the Let It Snow Holiday collection.

I got my Scale Effects from a lovely EU swapper but I think the Golden Roses are cheap enough that you should totally get whatever you're interested in! I don't recollect their big confetti glitters but I did see a bar glitter one at my drugstore.

I definitely think a birthday warrants beautiful polish and am excited for your new additions!

I have on BYS Black & Gold right now, what about you? *curious* Glittery green?

Hey, are you going to make the strawberry shortcake from scratch to tempura? :D It all sounds so fun. Avocados are supremely delish in shakes as well! My father adds Milo to it.

YES. THIS! I have wanted it for years, and I saw it on ebay for a not-ridiculous price, even with shipping, and it was a week until my birthday, and I got it. I only have that one (almost) and Scene so far, so over time, I'd like to start acquiring most of them :P

I tried on Supermodel today, and I have to agree--it's fantastic! Call me Irresponsible is also a kind of amazing jelly, but it is a little harder to even out in terms of color--you have to be more careful with it--but it's this lovely medium warm-toned purple, and I quite like it!

I do have Glitter in the Air! I love it over peach, pink, lavender, white, light blue and gray!! It's a little more subtle for work, too, though clearly I have given up on that by this point--I'm going in with dark violet tomorrow ^^;

I'm not sure I actually have a favorite finish--I love glitter but hate the cleanup, and I like jellies a lot, but I have to be careful because with all the polish I wear my nails are a bit yellow. I love flakies and holos, but almost more to have than to wear?

And I think cremes can be really classy and fun, but would want to jazz them up sometimes. Shimmers can be ok, but a bit boring. Most mattes I don't care for, mostly because they wear so terribly.

I don't know BB Couture well, but I've noticed a few of their newer collections lately, and they have some real winners! They have some shimmers that really glow. As for Nubar, I don't have much experience--the only polish of theirs I have so far is a flakie: 2010. But that deep bue creme jelly looks amazing! I think they only sell it in the 3 pack?

I'll keep an eye out for Poinsettia--I'll be buying some polishes from a site that sells China Glaze, and could easily toss it in ^_^v I don't think I know Dare to Wear, but now I'm curious!

I had rainbow glitter nails over the weekend, but am now in a deep violet--NFu Oh 117-- for work tomorrow. I'm frequently happy that as an academic, I can get away with that at work--as a professor and as a medievalist, I'm expected to be eccentri ^_^v

We cheat for shortcake tempura--we buy the shortcake, but make the tempura batter ^^;

Hope your weekend was awesome!!
