Man, we don't see many of those stolen. Hondas, Toyotas, sure. Kias? Don't see many of those.

As I talked about in my last post, we drove up to Seattle last night and got an early start this morning seeing places to live. We found a great place, built in 1919 with original everything in my favorite Seattle neighborhood. We got an application, filled it out in the car, grabbed the application fee and went back in to give the manager our info. "If you really like the place," he said, "you can give us a deposit and we'll stop showing it." We love it, so I run back out to the car to get another check. We do that, and at this point it's 11:30. I suggest to K that we go down onto Broadway to eat some lunch before hitting the next place at 1:30. We walk down 15th and turn the corner at Olive; I see that my car was on the corner but not hanging into the crosswalk or anything.

(Unfortunately it looks like Gravity Bar has been replaced by a QFC, so we stopped at Guayamas for burritos.)

Around 12:30 we head back up to the car ... except. Hm. Not there. Did we move it? We walk around a bit, but just convince ourselves that we did leave it on the corner, and there's a brown Honda there now.

SPD confirms that it wasn't towed, so they send an officer down. After a really amusing argument with the dispatcher about her contention that I wasn't on 15th and Olive -- I was looking directly at the pole with signs saying "15th" and "Olive" -- an incredulous officer took our info. All told, we lost our bags, some clothes that we were quite fond of, a charger for my phone which LG doesn't make any more (and thus, my phone is finally killed in a really stupid way), and both of our laptops (I'd been backing up, but all of K's school work is now being zapped by some fucking pawn shop owner / meth dealer).

Plus a crap car that I am still shocked anyone would consider worth stealing. Stolen in broad daylight on the corner of two fairly well-trafficed streets.

Yeah, it's just shit, and all of the shit can be replaced, but I'm still annoyed.

Well, man, welcome to Seattle!
