Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies! (Or maybe RPS.)
This morning as I was waking up I was bitten by a Dave/Alexis RPS bunny. I am not going to write it. I'm not. I don't have time, I don't know enough about the actors to write RPS, and I have a million other writing projects in my head.
So I'm going to sketch out the basic bunny so that I won't write out a fleshed out story. Don't look behind the cut if slash with real people offends you. I mean it!
It all starts with Dave getting Alexis a part on Bones, some snooty professor or something who wrangles with the lead character. It's a guest spot, but it's three episodes with the option for more if the character tests well.
The first couple of days Alexis is too busy trying to ingratiate himself with the cast and crew and to be a good worker to spend much time with Dave, but they say hi as their paths cross at craft services or in the make up trailer. Once Dave pops up at a scene he's not in purportedly because he's bored but in actuality so that he can try to make Alexis crack up laughing. For once he doesn't succeed, but it's a very near call and only saved by Alexis' training and the fact that Dave isn't in the scene and so doesn't have to maintain eye contact.
Finally they both find themselves off at the same time and end up going to hang out in Dave's trailer. They sit on the couch together, and Alexis teases Dave about how long the trailer's going to stay so clean and Dave teases Alexis about how he keeps nearly slipping into a British accent. Alexis pretends to bristle and replies that at least he can do a foreign accent and isn't it wise of Dave to have tried out for a part that doesn't require him to mangle a brogue?
Finally, smiling, Dave says, "It's nice having you here."
Alexis, smiling back: "It's very nice to be here. Thank you for going out of your way to get me the part."
Dave: "I just had to blow a couple of producers and promise to show my butt later in the season. *shrugs* So, you know, pretty much what I would've done anyway."
Alexis grins, and they move on. More chatting, yadda yadda, differences in sets and not being the lead, not having Joss behind the scenes, being able to work in the daylight. Dave shows pictures of his son, and Alexis talks about Aly and Tony and not getting a pilot. It's all comfortable, friends catching up, and they both feel how much they've missed these comfortable times together.
As they talk, Dave slings his arm across the back of the sofa, and Alexis ends up sliding closer because of how Dave's weight makes the cushions sag. They're not touching, but they could be.
Then Dave does touch Alexis, just a hand on his shoulder. "I've missed you," he says. He's still smiling, but faintly, and he has that intense look in his eyes that's as much a part of him as the goofy grins.
Alexis: "I've missed you, too. I'm sorry we don't have more scenes together. Even after that stunt you pulled yesterday; were you trying to get me fired?"
Dave, smiling even less: "Not just working with you. *You*. (pause) A lot."
Putting his hand on Dave's thigh, Alexis says, "I know."
They look at each other for a bit, touching but not moving. Just being together, connected, finally having what they've been lacking since Angel ended. Then Dave leans in - slowly, slowly - to kiss him, and Alexis lets him. It doesn't get heated. It could, but it doesn't. Instead it's focused and serious, like they're saying far more with the kiss than they did with words, and when they pull away neither one is smiling at all. They go back to looking at each other. It's easy, comfortable, and yet something far more important.
Dave smiles first. "I'm gonna see who I need to blow to get you this part full time."
Alexis: "I don't want you to have to go to any trouble for me."
Dave: "It's no trouble. Well, apart from my bad knee."
Alexis, his grin turning knowing: "I'm sure I could find a way to repay you for your effort."
Dave laughs and rubs the back of Alexis' neck, and they kiss again. Things heat up fast this time, kisses getting deeper and hands slipping under clothes, and Dave ends up getting a novice but very enthusiastic blow job as he sprawls on the couch and then jerks Alexis off on the floor while kissing him breathless. They both come really hard, and it could be awkward afterward but isn't. It feels completely natural.
"Yeah, I really missed you," Dave murmurs, his eyes closed.
And then a PA knocks on the door and calls Dave for his next scene. Still breathing hard and tangled together on the floor, they smile at each other - not just with promise but with deep affection - and Dave gets up with a groan and straightens his clothing.
Dave: "Come by when you're done tonight? Maybe we can do dinner?"
He waits for Alexis' nod, gives him a big smile, and then heads out of the trailer.
The end.
And then there's probably a sequel.
