I just saw that Midnight Meat Train is playing at the New Beverly as a double feature with Candyman next month.

Will someone remind me exactly how bad it is, and either talk me into or out of going?  I waver on it's worthiness.

Usually I go to movies with a subtle underlying sense of dread.  There always seems to be someone making a running commentary on the film, or someone who not only doesn't turn off the cell phone, but holds a five minute conversation on it, and then there are the teenagers who giggle through the whole thing.

I'm trying the "Play It Now" option on Netflix in an effort to pare down the perpetually maxed out queue, and last night the BBC period mini-series North and South was on tap.

The plot is more or less the same you will find in any random Harlequin novel: fish-out-of-water heroine meets hot, brooding hero and myriad contrived misunderstandings ensue ( Read more... )

I tried to watch There Will Be Blood last night, but yawn.  Daniel Day Lewis, excellent.  All the other actors, excellent.  Atmosphere, perfect.  Story, sloooooooooooooow.

Back when I was in college, David Lynch was the bee's knees.  Twin Peaks was on network television, although I wondered who he had a picture of with what farm animal that made that come to pass.  I didn't get it, but went along with the crowd and watched religiously anyhow.  Dancing midget talking backwards.  WTF?
