The biggest Japanese band in 80s was Boowy, and they ignited the 80s band boom in Japan. They debut in 1983 and had their big break since then. They disbanded shortly in 1987, giving them the legendary status. It is well-known that the band came from Gunma, just like our BT boys. The two most famous frontmen: vocalist 氷室京介 (Himuro Kyouske) and 布袋寅泰 (Tomoyasu Hotei, known internationally recently of that overused Kill Bill theme) also came from the same city (群馬県高崎市) as the BT boys and even attended the same school. They're the key motivations for the young Imai and Uta for "let's form a band!!! And making it in Tokyo just like our fellow school elders." When BT first went to Tokyo, they hooked up with Boowy and Boowy give advices to the dear youngsters. The drummer of Boowy was also the key figure who persuaded Atsushi in pursuing his desire to be a vocalist. XD
Anyway, blah blah, actually the main point of this entry is this picture I found on 2ch ^^;;;(picture undercut)

Hotei Tomoyasu remixed "Muchi No Namida" in GESSEKAI single, and some fans said they saw Himuro Kyouske went to Atsushi's solo live.
