I really don't do well with deadlines. I've known this quite a long while but I think I might just be starting to realise that that means I ought to plan around them rather than attempting to make my brain work with them.

I'm someone who doesn't just work with deadlines, I need the bastards. Otherwise, my stuff doesn't get done. It relates to the whole "I do things for other people, not for me" issue I've got working - if I know me missing a deadline is going to screw the other person over, then stuff will be handed in three weeks ahead of schedule. Otherwise, it'll get done when I feel like doing it - which is hardly ever anywhere near on time. This is why I always work best for hard-asses - people who are chill don't force me into work mode. Then we both wind up screwed.

There's a nontrivial difference between finding kinks humiliating and having a humiliation kink... And humiliation as a kink is one of those where I have to say 'your kink is not my kink' because whilst I know intellectually that it can be done in a loving, trusting, respecting relationship, all too often in fic I as the reader end up not feeling that and only feel the humiliation/shame (which is not something I find sexy at all

Comment was half-cheek, half-curiosity as your original post read somewhat ambiguous on the matter, but you've cleared it up now. I find the idea of judgmental kink-authors fascinating, and I wonder how many of the anon-kink authors fall in that category. Self-loathing is hard to take; then again, I just watched the entire first season of Dexter in a day, so I've got some odd ideas going off in that direction at the moment.

But I might understand it in this case: one of the reasons I've never written porn is because I get too embarrassed to even type the words out; if I was writing about something that I found distinctly un-sexy, it might feel less personal, and thus easier to put on the page and send out into the world. That sentence was a hell of a run-on and it might not make sense, but I can't think of any other way to put it.

So many fandoms, so little time. I'm going to start translating my (shorter) fics into French this summer in an effort to make my fan-ish efforts more productive in my non-fandom life. (My tendency towards epic lengths is going to sabotage me here, but I'm not comfortable mutilating other peoples' words - as long as they're just mine, it's all good).
