- Carrie Underwood. Ugh. But you know what? I love this song, especially when it gets to the bit where she wakes up in the hotel and looks at her hand and says, “And I don’t even know my last name.” Hee. I seem to like her songs where she screams more than sings…
- REBA!!!!! I can’t believe Vince Gill isn’t the host. He’s like the Billy Crystal of the ACMs. Actually, I’m shocked that the ACMs still use a host. Reba’s always good. Also, George Strait is 56? Holy crap! He’s still sexy as sexy can be. Also, I love that Reba totally embarrassed Keith and Nicole.
- TOBY KEITH! OMG OMG OMG, I love this song. It’s odd how Toby usually writes the most misogynistic lyrics, and yet I can’t help but love him and just giggle and say, “Ooooh, that Toby. OMG, HE’S SO HOT!” It’s the whole alpha male thing. Or maybe not so much alpha male as confident. And good-humored. Oh, I love him.
- Sugarland just won Best Single, woohoo!!!! All the nominations were awesome though. I was very split on who to pick.
- Gah, they have mentioned Garth Brooks a billion times, and the thing has just started. I think they are just leading me on. How much you wanna bet he doesn’t come on till 10:00? OMG, I CANNOT WAIT CANNOT WAIT CANNOT WAIT! GAAAAAARTH!!!!!!
-Brad Paisley! Yes yes yes, I love this song. So hilarious. “I don’t highlight my hair, yeah I’ve still got a pair. Oh honey, I’m still a guy.”
- Taylor Swift just won new female vocalist! YAY!!!! She’s awesome. But way too young.
- Oh dude, I need to vote for entertainer of the year. The only one nominated that I’ve seen in concert is Kenny Chesney, and he’s already won 4 times. Oh wait! I’ve seen Keith Urban twice, but he was the opening act. Kenny’s always been my favorite performer though. Well, actually, I like Phil Vassar more, but he’ll never be nominated. *sigh* I think I’ll vote for George just because it’s his birthday.
- I’ve never been a Miranda Lambert fan, but any song about shooting your abusive ex-boyfriend is a winner for me, especially one filled with so much attitude. Yeah, you show that bastard your shotgun! Damn straight!
- Hmm. Lady Antebellum won new group. No surprise there since their one song has been playing non stop for the past month. And I’ve never heard of the first one. And The Wreckers seem to have disappeared just as quickly as they appeared. But I’m serious when I say Lady Antebellum have only been around for a month. Craziness.
- Okay, Rodney Atkins does things to me. But not because of his singing. Sorry, dude! You are so my ideal cowboy loverman, but not my ideal country artist. :’( But seriously, the tight, ripped pants, the half tucked T-shirt, the ball cap. OMG!
- Well, I was rooting for Jake Owen for new male vocalist. I’ve seen him twice in concert by chance, and he totally blew me away the second time. But the thing with him is that you have to see him perform to realize his awesomeness, so not a surprise that he lost. Jack Ingrim is pretty awesome, so I’m happy.
- OMG, KENNY!!!!!!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! He cleans up good, don’t he? He’s not that great at singing the slow songs live, because he slurs so many of the words. That’s one reason why my mom hated his concert (I personally love Kenny no matter how far away from the stage I am nor how hard he is to understand, mostly because I already know the words). But this was a new song, so I had trouble understanding him. But I got the gist. It doesn’t matter anyway, because I was too busy drooling over his shiny dress shirt and his tan.
- George Strait, how I love thee. Such a beautiful song. He made me tear up at the end, especially since he lost his daughter a long while back. :’(
- OMG OMG OMG!!!! GEORGE AND KENNY ON THE SAME STAGE! OH MY GOD THEY’RE SO ADORABLE!
- SUGARLAND, OH MY GOD!!!!! WORLD PREMIERE OF THEIR NEW SONG! OMG!!!!!!!! Dude, I loved the song from the first note. OMG! I especially loved the “Ooo ooo ooo ooo” bits. And Jennifer and Christian are so freaking adorable, OMG! That polka dot suit! Jennifer is my girl crush, and she so did not let me down. OMG, I LOVE HER!
- Miranda Lambert won best album? Really? Are you freaking kidding me? Meh, the nominees weren’t all that great. I so wish Gary Allan’s new album had been nominated, because it’s the best one I’ve come across in a LONG time. Out of the nominees I probably would have picked Kenny. He doesn’t write his own music though, so I guess for him the male vocalist and the entertainer of the year awards are more important, whereas Miranda writes her own songs. Also, I had no idea that Miranda was dating Blake Shelton. Dang! I met Blake Shelton ages ago, by the way. I always have to mention that.
- Brooks and Dunn. I appreciate them, grew up listening to them, but have never been a diehard fan. But they are pretty awesome. But Reba made them even more awesome. I swear she is the cutest thing ever. She was having so much fun. It has been SO LONG since I’ve seen her perform.
- OMG, SUGARLAND WON AGAIN! This time for song of the year, for the same song that they won for Single of the Year. “Stay” is a wicked awesome song, and Jennifer performs the hell out of it. Love it.
- Dudes, stop telling me that Garth is coming up during every single commercial break! You keep getting my hopes up and then crushing them! COME ON! I WANT GARTH!
- Taylor Swift just kicked butt. Hell yeah, she was awesome! And she stood there in that downpour for a good minute or 2, and that takes guts, man. It looked awesome.
- Man, will Big and Rich ever win vocal duo? COME ON! Brooks and Dunn have like 20 of those trophies. Come on!
- Ahhhhhh! Trace Adkins! I love this song SO MUCH! And I predict that he will make me bawl. Okay, I didn’t bawl, because they kind of cut the song short. :(
- Okay, I think Garth is coming up next for real this time. What did I tell you, 10:00!
- Ooo, new commercial for Get Smart. I can already tell that I will totally ship Smart/99. It’s inevitable, especially since Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway are so darn adorable together.
- GAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAARTH! GARTH! OMG! Ahhh, he was so freaking AWESOME! Squeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Again, he’s not up to the same caliber performance-wise that he was 10 years ago, but I still love the crap out of him. All he has to do is appear on the stage and I nearly hyperventilate. OMG! GARTH! He totally screwed up on Thunder Rolls though, but I don’t care. Obviously he’s not accustomed to doing medleys. Oh, so adorable! And of course his eyesex with Trisha was sizzling. Trisha’s dress, though, yikes. And then he launched into More than a Memory, his most recent song, and quite possibly my second favorite Garth song of all time, and I love seeing him perform it, so damn sexy. OMG, I LOVE GARTH! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!! His hair is almost non-existent now, so sad. :( But then again, he started balding in his 20s, so no surprise there. OMG, I LOVE HIM! He still makes those tight jeans look SO incredibly good. *drool* I have never seen a butt that I like better than Garth’s. True story.
- Rascal Flatts won best group. Big surprise. [/sarcasm]
- Ahhh, Keith Urban! Ooo, I like this song, never heard it before. *dances*
- Rascal Flatts are performing this time. "Everyday." I actually like this song. But I seem to always like their songs when they first come out, then they are played so much that I end up hating them. But this song’s still new, so I like it. And I keep wanting to vid it with Crews/Reese or Daniel/Betty. I don’t think Crews/Reese are quite to that point yet, so Daniel/Betty would be a better fit. But I stopped downloading UB eps during season 2 because of the sucktitude, so I’ll probably never make the vid. Unless I can find some way to make it fit Crews/Reese all the way through.
- RIP Eddie Arnold. :’( Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley sound beautiful together.
- Ugh, Kellie Pickler. Blech. I like her song about Carolina or something like that, but that’s it.
- Yay, Brad Paisley won male vocalist! Not a surprise, he totally deserves it, and this has been his year. I’m not an avid Brad fan, but I definitely appreciate his talent.
- LeAnn Rhimes! Aww, I remember when she was just a little thing. I think she’s 2 years older than me though. Maybe. And wow, her style is so completely different from when she was 13.
- Ugh. Carrie Underwood won female vocalist. Again. Seriously, I don’t get it. Oh well. At least Miranda Lambert didn’t win.
- MONTGOMERY GENTRY!!!!! I love those guys. They put on an awesome show. Their concert was quite possibly my second favorite concert that I’ve been to. They’re just so fun and their songs are so true to life and I love them. And Troy Gentry is hot. And Eddie Montgomery is adorable. I LOVE THEM!
- Aww, Kenny Chesney won entertainer of the year. Yay for him! But yeah, no surprise. His 4th one in a row. But like I said, he puts on one kickass concert, and I have never once been even remotely close to the stage because his tickets sell like wildfire, but I’ve enjoyed every one that I’ve been to. Love him.
- Overall, pretty good show. The awards were all predictable, but I watch for the performances anyway. I haven’t been invested in the actual awards part of it since Garth retired. Man, I used to get SO involved back then. The CMAs and ACMs were like the superbowl of music for me. Anyway, this year the show gets a thumbs up from me purely for finding an excuse to invite Garth to perform. I love it when they make up awards for him. They did that about 10 years back when they gave him an award for special achievement for his Central Park concert, but come on, you know they just wanted an excuse to make him show up at the awards and bring in the ratings. That was back when he was ridiculously on fire, breaking every kind of record there was and winning all the awards in existence. *sigh* I miss those days.
