Well, I told you I had no willpower. I just searched CJ/Toby on google, and I saw a message board where they said what happens in the end, and THEY NEVER BECOME CANON! WHY??? WHY DO I ALWAYS PICK THE DOOMED SHIPS? WHY? :'( Oh, and on this message board, they are arguing that CJ/Toby were like brother and sister and that there were never any romantic vibes between them. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SERIOUSLY? DO THEY NOT SEE HOW TOBY LOOKS AT HER! OMG! Now I'm all bummed. I really shouldn't have looked. Seriously though, why do my ships never become canon? And why is the opposing argument always "They're more like brother and sister"? Just because we're not being beaten over the head with the sexual tension? COME ON! I'll take the emotional connection over the sexual one any day. And really, with most of my ships, the sexual tension is all in the subtext. I just can't get into Josh/Donna because they are too obvious for me, and of course they are the ones that end up canon. *weary sigh* So not fair. I am so mad at myself for reading what happened to them. Now I'm afraid that I won't get through to the end. I mean, Danny Cancanon, really? I'm supposed to believe that she's in love with Danny and not Toby? Really? That's ridiculous. Psh. So not fair. Dude, look at my track record:
John Cage/Ally McBeal = Sort of canon but not really
Monk/Sharona = Never became canon
CJ/Toby = Not canon *sound of heart breaking, because I seriously believed that they'd end up together*
Jack/Liz = Never going to become canon (or so they say, despite all the hints that are thrown at us)
Guy/Marion = Worst ending to a ship EVER! (I haven't seen it yet, but still)
Lassiter/Juliet = Probably never going to happen, but I'm still holding out hope. The superficial Shawn/Juliet is more likely though. Blergh.
Daniel/Betty = Sometimes I think it'll happen, then I lose all my faith, then I get it back again, then it leaves again. Also, the critics and most of the fandom is against this ship, and of course their excuse is, "They're more like brother and sister," so it'll be a tough sell, which leads me to fear that the writers will never make it canon.
Kelly/Andy = Purely a fanon creation. Kelly and Andy have barely ever spoken to each other, and yet I ship them like crazy, because they are so perfect for each other. But it'll never happen. I wish they could at least share some scenes together.
Cooper/Violet = Who the hell knows. This is my most canon ship to date, but with Shonda Rhymes at the helm, there is no telling where she'll take this ship.
House/Cameron = Set up in the beginning like it was going to become canon, but then nothing ever came of it (and I doubt anything ever will)
Crews/Reese = Might happen, but probably won't. I hate to say it, but I doubt that the show will stick around long enough to make the ship canon, and that really bums me out. Unless season 2 somehow miraculously finds an audience with Nielson boxes attached to their TVs.
Do you see my terrible luck? Why can't I ever be interested in superficial, schmoopy canon couples? Because... they bore the crap out of me. I guess I just like my ships to be subtle and to have that element of the unknown. Sadly, I always get screwed in the end.
Oh, also, Steve Carell was awesome on SNL. The digital short with the Japanese version of The Office was hilarious, particularly the Japanese Pam. And Steve was just Michael speaking Japanese, which was awesome. And Bill Heder looked so much like Dwight Schrute that it was scary.
