Starfury Serenity Complete - con report Pt 1
Okay - so it's been 2 weeks and I haven't posted my con report. My bad - I've been having trouble uploading my photos and wanted to do it all together, but now I figure I should just start the report and sort the photos later.
As I mentioned in the run up to this con, we kept getting told of guest cancellations (Summer, Alan, Jamie Bamber) and by the time the weekend arrived, we only knew 4 guests that were going to be there - Adam Baldwin, Mark Sheppard, W. Morgan Sheppard (Mark's dad) and Nicky Clyne from BSG. Although it would be Adam's first UK starfury con, the lineup was not that exciting and I was bracing myself for a disappointment. Not a bit of it, I'm happy to say!
So, the the lineup for Surprise!con (as I dubbed it) was:
W. Morgan Sheppard - who has not appeared on either BSG or Firefly but has been on Babylon 5, Star Trek Next Gen and appears in the new Trek movie.
BSG guests - Nicky Clyne, Leah Cairns (Racetrack), Michelle Forbes (Admiral Kane) and Kandyse McClure (Dee/Dualla). Cool - too many girls, but still cool!
Firefly guests - Adam Baldwin, Mark Sheppard, Ron Glass, Richard Brooks (Jubal Early). I was psyched to meet Richard as he had only done one previous event and I didn't go. It was just before the LA event and I couldn't justify going to both. Anyway, that was Friday - we quickly bought photo op tickets and then had a few beers with the gang. All the people I met up with at the LA event were there, so we had plenty of catching up to do.
Saturday morning began for me with the group photo shoot. Although it's pricey, I prefer it as a record of the guests at each event. I've been to so many now that my memory is getting blurry as to the specifics of who was at which one. Picked up 10x8s to get signed by the BSG girls and Richard Brooks then went off to the talks.
Got to go back to work now (boo!). More to come..
