Yes, I am still alive and kicking. Can't really explain my absence other than being busy and not spending much time online.
I had a wonderful experience on Monday. I went to the RSC at Stratford to see A Midsummer Night's Dream, and absolutely loved it. The way they have done the set with just lights gave it a wonderful magical quality, and a scene at the end when the cast were up in the gallery with lanterns singing was so beautiful I felt like crying. I was also crying with laughter at the terrible play within the play - the best use of red Y-fronts I am ever likely to see. Only 15 days until I see the lovely David Tennant in Hamlet. I'm going to Stratford 3 times this month - it's a lot but if all the productions are this good, it will be worth it.
Unfortunately, the high quality of entertainment couldn't last. Yes, I'm talking about Bonekickers from last night, which was utter rubbish. Now, I've only picked up my archaeological knowledge from Time Team, but even I could see that they were not very good at it! Ripping stuff out of the ground and recording nothing? Also, everything they found was in remarkably good condition, considering it had been there since the 14th century! Also, every scene with the 2 young Templar Knights seemed to have been revoiced as it all sounded very strange. Poppycock is the only word for it.
