Thanks to my glorious graphic novels class, I get to dress up twice for Halloween! We decided that if any class has a right to dress up, it's us, so we're going to do so Monday. Then of course Tuesday is The Day, and since it is J's absolute most favoritest holiday ever, there shall be costumage then as well. Whee!

This makes up for the fact that this week's book - Jimmy Corrigan, Smartest Kid on Earth - borders on unreadable. I mean, I can handle stories splitting off into divergent timestreams/ parallel universes/ alternate endings but this is ridiculous. Also, even when something dramatic happens, it's surrounded by so much nothing, and immediately followed by an astounding amount of nothing happening, that it doesn't have any impact. The author goes on about duping a publisher into printing it and reviewers into raving over it and I thought it was a cute joke, love the self-deprecating humor. But now I'm starting to think he means it, and wants to see who gets it and who says "Oooooh, it's so deeeep! A new frontier in art!" I doubt I'll come close to finishing it by Monday, but it will be interesting to see what the rest of the class says. So far, they haven't been tolerant of stupidity or self-aggrandizement.

This week's fantastic accomplishment: embedding video in a blog post. Go me! Everyone suitably impressed, though I just followed WordPress's directions and their software and youtube did the rest. Now I'll have to try it here. Also learned how to do PowerPoint. Most of it was stuff I could probably have figured out on my own, but it was more efficient to sit for an hour or so and get it all at once.

Off to clean some more. Homecoming guests start arriving in five days!
