[ The recording comes on, and Reinette's voice can be heard, low mutterings amongst beeps and whirs from the device. ]

How does one make such a post so as to gain the most attention. Should I shout, or- No, how rude.

[Well, that was a bust. This is definitely not home. And Reinette, apparently, is too enamoured with that portrait to look over at him and acknowledge this fact, because she's just kind of standing there smiling at it and looking all pleased with herself.]

You're awfully happy about this, considering it didn't work.

[...and there is no response. Weird. Reinette's not the type to ignore him; if anything, it's usually the other way around. He reaches out to tap her arm, get her attention--and his hand goes right through. Like a ghost's.

...Uh-oh.]

[ Of course, to her, it looks like Rudy has disappeared. She can neither see nor hear him, and she certainly can't feel his hand as it passes through her arm. She stands before his portrait, clutching her network device and fighting back tears. She is glad that Rudy has gone home; he wanted it so badly. And she's glad, too, that everyone else will be able to now, as well, thanks to their discovery.

A small part of her aches for this discovery, though. The Doctor's return means that they might not ever meet again, but- It is far more important that people like him return to where they belong.

She hurries out of the hall, elated. ]

[Great. Nothing to do but follow Reinette, presumably; it's not like he's about to stand around here looking at his portrait like it's going to magically present an answer to the current predicament.]

...Damn, and it seems so obvious.

Precisely why perhaps no one has thought of it before. Someone else has raised concerns, but I have no other explanation for Rudy's disappearance.

Are you quite serious, Miss Reinette?

I am quite serious; this is not a matter to joke about.

No, it certainly isn't a matter to joke about.

Why didn't anyone think of this before?

A good question. Perhaps no one ever imagined the solution would be so obvious.

I have my doubts. If it were that easy, we could all simply leave when we wished. ...And someone would have discovered this before.

The logic seems sound enough. Perhaps the glaring obviousness is what kept others attempting it before.

Rudy's gone- Rudy Miller, I assume? That's what the portrait was for?

I can't believe that actually worked.

Rudy Miller, yes. I am also rather surprised it worked, if I may be honest.

I suppose it makes sense that no one tried it before. We all figured it'd be a loophole they wouldn't allow. Very creative, though.

Well. I hope he does well back home. Congratulations to him. I suppose there'll be a high demand for portraits soon.

Some have expressed concern that it may be some sort of trick, that the deities would not be so lax as to leave such an opportunity. But I am optimistic.

The artist we used will find herself suddenly burdened with commissions, I am sure.
