Today was extra exciting. I got hit by a car.
I am totally okay, no damage done. I was crossing a two-lane road on campus, at a crosswalk. I waited for the walk sign, saw that no cars were coming, and boldly strode ahead. Unfortunately someone in an adjacent driveway also saw that no cars were coming, and made a left turn into me. Poor guy looked terrified when he spotted me. He braked and I dodged, so it ended up being a very low-speed collison, not even enough force to knock me down. Definitely one of the more terrifying moments of my week, though.
Given the amount of time I spend on foot, it was bound to happen at some point. I am just glad it was so minor. Even a broken arm would have been a serious disaster for my uninsured self.
Remember guys-always look for pedestrians and bikes at intersections! You might curse jaywalkers, but most fatal accidents happen when cars turn into people who are crossing legally.
