new sperm rules
It's been really hectic at school lately so I haven't had time to update and I still don't but this new FDA regulation has made me so mad I have to write about it. They have passed a new rule banning any men who have engaged in gay sex from ever donating anonymous sperm. The FDA said that they felt gay men have more chance of having HIV/AIDS than straight men. So any straight man who does drugs using needles has sex with potentially positive prositutes or has unprotected sex with anyone they want can donate sperm within a year of the application while a gay man in a completely monogomous relationship who has never done drugs has no chance to. There is so many things wrong with that statement I don't know where to start. If all the FDA was worried about was protecting people from HIV/AIDS all they have to do is have the applicant tested when they give the sperm and freeze the sperm for 6-months to a year and have the man tested again. I've tried to see this new rule as anything other than discrimination but I can't. This new rule is just another sign of the increasing right wing, religious influence on our country. In other words, It Sucks.
