1 down, three months to go...

My first training shift at Cheers took place on Memorial Day Weekend. I arrived at 4:30 yesterday afternoon, in the middle of a hectic day where the servers were all working double shifts and so many people came in that there wasn't much time to actually train me for a couple of hours.

Not that my job as a hostess is really that difficult. It's just crazy when you don't know the answers to things yet, and don't have a walkie-talkie to find out if tables are free or not. Oh my GOD, I'm working in the hospitality industry...

Cheers is a complete 180 from the MFA. It's a good change of atmosphere. They play good music. I don't have to watch out for people shoplifting or deal with money. But I also don't get a break unless I work a double. I stumbled out of there around 11:30 last night, somehow made it home to eat a bowl of cereal and pass out for 9 hours.

I worry a little bit that I won't quite fit in with the people working there, as I'm a bit older than many, and some seem more preoccupied with things like their dark tan from spending the day at the pool. There was some drama with the two back hosts, where one ended up crying, management found her, and sent the other one home at 6pm. Hopefully that's not a frequent occurance...

In other interesting news, my internship is recording a week of Boston Pops concerts, and they are going to PAY me to help out. PAY me. In MONEY. To be the runner on stage between pieces, moving the mics around. For MONEY. I'm moving up in the world!

Also, just finished a fabulous summer top made from lace I bought in Paris. Will post pictures once I have time to sit down. I've got to start posting pics of my projects more often...
