Part 3 Eclipse 4
“Jaejoong, dinner’s ready!” I heard one of the sisters called out. I didn’t know who it was, maybe sister Monica, maybe someone else. My brain froze and my heart stopped beating. I think I forgot to breath, too absorbed in those pair of black orbs. Jaejoong’s face was so close, our nose almost bumping.
Until he pulled back and turned away, “Be right there!”
Then I took a deep breath of much needed air.
“Let’s go back before the foods grow cold,” he offered with a smile.
“Yeah,” I said, still too stunned to respond properly, “Yeah...”
Jaejoong turned around and walked ahead of me. I watched his retreating figure before hurrying to catch up with him. My heart was beating too fast and I prayed to God it was too dark to see my blushing cheeks. We walked back to the building, to the dining room where there was a long table with foods on it. The kids and the sisters were sitting around the tables, waiting for us. I sat down between Jaejoong and who I remember to be Ryu, before they read prayers and started the supper. We were immediately engaged in a pleasant conversation, the kids were all so bright and I couldn’t help but to admire them. I honestly couldn’t see how I could be like them if I’m in their shoes.
I guess I know where Jaejoong got his personality, everyone there were such great people.
After supper, the kids in duty washed the dishes while Jaejoong and I continued talking to the sisters. “Have you found someone, Jaejoong?” Sister Katherine asked.
Jaejoong shook his head with a chuckle, “Don’t have time for that, Sister.”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself,” Sister Katherine clicked her tongue. She turned to me with a smile, “How about you, young man?”
“Me?” I asked, “Uh, I don’t...I’m not really made for relationships~”
“No one is made to be alone, Yoochun-sshi,” she said, looking understandingly between me and Jaejoong.
“Eh?” I asked, not exactly understanding what she was implying, but Jaejoong cut in.
“It’s probably time to go home!”
Sister Katherine laughed, “Okay, okay!” She got up and pulled Jaejoong into her arms, “Be safe, okay? Take care, come here as often as you can.”
“I will,” Jaejoong kissed her cheeks and Sister Katherine patted my arm briefly before turning back to rest in her room. She’s a lot better they said, but not fully recovered, thus she needs more rest.
“Home?”
“Yeah,” Jaejoong nodded, said goodbye to everyone, and ushered me out. The ride back to the city was quiet, but comfortable, like before. It felt nice, everything about Jaejoong and being with him is nice.
I think...I’m ready to admit that I’ve fallen a little too deep.
“That’s my place,” Jaejoong said, pointing at a small two-storey apartment. I stopped in front of the building.
“You live here?”
“Yeah, why?” Jaejoong raised an eyebrow, my questioning tone must be a little offensive without me realizing it.
“Nothing, just...I can see this building from my apartment...” I shrugged. “A little too far to spy on you, though.”
He laughed, and God how I love that sound, “Thank you for today, Yoochun-sshi.”
“Just Yoochun?” I offered dumbly.
He smiled, “Goodnight, Yoochun.”
“Goodnight, Jaejoong-ah,” I smiled back, before he got off the car and entered the building. I couldn’t wipe the dumb look on my face all the way home.

Kira looked up at the red vending machine and then at the coins in his hand. His head tilted to the side. “Hmmmm. . .” He turned to look at the orange vending machine in his right and then back to the first one.
When he saw the vending machine the other day, he immediately thought of Kaoru and his love for Yakult. The orange machine has Kaoru’s drink, “Demo. . .” he looked at his left where the red machine was placed in. He counted his coins and shook his head. He only have ₩5000.
“Kaoru’s yogurt. . .” He pointed at the numbers, reading it. “₩2500. . .” he looked down at his bill, confused.
“I’ll show you how it works,” someone had spoken from behind and Kira look over at the stranger, she was showing him how to insert the bill in the machine.
“Give me your money.”
“Here. Is that enough?”
“Of course, silly.” He watched as she pressed a button and then the machine ate his money. Sound of coins was heard after that, “Here,” she said as she passed the drink and his change to him.
“Gamsahaeyo. . .” Kira bowed, flashing her a smile.
She smiled back.
“Ah I want that fish ice cream,” Kira pouted. He heard her chuckle.
“Come one, give me that blue bill.”
“This one?”
“Yeah that one.”
“Why?”
“You said you want the fish ice cream, I’m buying it on your behalf.”
“Ah hai!” Kira gave her two blue bills. She stared at him in wonder, “Just one bill, it’s enough.”
Kira shook his head and smiled, “Buy yourself too!” When she didn’t answer him he assured her that his mom won’t get mad about spending all his money as long as he buys food.
She refused at first but Kira pouted at her, and then she gave in. Ahh this kid is so adorable. She thought.
“This is my favorite, there’s red bean inside! Go eat it! It’s yummy, I tell you.” He giggled.
“Thank you. Oh, I’m Yoobin, I’m 5 years old. What is your name?” She smiled in return.
“Kira imnida and I’m turning 4 years old this May! Bangapseumnida!”
“Yoobin? What are you doing here outside?”
A man’s voice startled them, Yoobin recognized him immediately. “Oh Changmin oppa,” He bent down at her level and ruffled her hair. Changmin was surprised when someone tap him, he looked around and big brown orbs, chubby cheeks with long eyelashes stared back at him.
“Annyeong haseyo! Kira imnida.”
The corners of Changmin’s lips stretched slowly into a smile but even before he had to introduce himself, a woman came running towards them, calling Kira’s name.
“Kira! Where have you been baby?” A woman, probably in her twenties pulled the adorable boy into her arms. Changmin can’t help but wonder, Is she the mother of this cute kid? If that so. . . then that’s too bad on my part. She’s a beauty. Well, I guess I’ll be forever singl ---
“I’m sorry Obachan, I went to buy Kaoru’s Yakult.”
Her face softened and she hugged him even tighter. “Next time, don’t go out alone and always ask me to go with you when you want to buy something. Do you want Kaachan to scold me? She’ll get mad at me if she happens to know I almost lost you today.”
Changmin wanted to pull Kira into a hug as well. His sad eyes and how his shoulders sag, makes his heart ache.
“I’m sorry Obachan. . .”
She leaned forward and kissed Kira’s forehead, “It’s okay but next time. . .”
“I promised to always ask you first, Obachan.”
She smiled, that kind of smile that only flickers on baby’s lips.
Oh God. . . Why are you torturing me? Changmin thought.
“Ah Obachan! I met a new friend, this is Yoobin. Hmmmm she’s older so she’s a Neechan, then,” Kira looked up and stared at Changmin.
“I’m Changmin. Nice to meet you Kira.”
“. . .he said he’s Changmin, I just met him too. Nice to meet you too Changmin hyung. Oh and this is my Sora Obachan.” Kira said, pushing her hand toward his.
Gentle eyes fall upon him, she’s smiling right at him. A smile so bright, a smile that outshine the noonday sun.
He extended his hand out to her, without breaking their eye contact.
This might be what they call...‘Love at First Sight’.

Junsu got a day off. He went out to visit his parents and spent the rest of the day with them, around four in the afternoon he went out to meet his twin brother for an early dinner before Junho goes back to Japan. Junho’s team have a soccer match next week, too bad he couldn’t be there to support him this time.
At seven, with a few hugs and wishing his brother all the luck in their game, they said their goodbyes. At seven twenty, he walked out of the still busy airport with the thoughts of not wanting to go home to his empty apartment. It always get lonely when Junho is not around. Should I crash at Jae’s tonight? He shook the thought away and flag a cab.
Remembering he didn’t and probably Junho didn’t as well restock their supplies of food at home before he leaves, he instructed the cab driver to drop him off at this particular supermarket. Hoping and wishing that, at this time of the day she would be at home or at the hospital with her twin babies. Its not that he didn’t want to see her, he’s not just ready to meet her - again - at such place.
Junsu entered the supermarket and was relieved when he didn’t see her behind any counters. He grabbed for a cart and started filling it with their necessities. He was almost done with his list when he heard her voice behind a stall.
“Do you think I made the wrong decision?” A pause. A sigh. “Sora ah. . . But he deserve to know what happened to his child. No. No. Listen, I didn’t call him for his money, you know I can pay for my son’s hospital bill.” Another pause. “It’s alright, I understand your point. No, I’m not mad. And yes ---”
Junsu moved out of his spot and pushed his cart away. Eavesdropping was bad.
The next day Junsu didn’t expect the first person he would see is Reiko. . . with a man.
Reiko didn’t see him as her back was facing him. Junsu took his time to study the man’s face. The guy is taller than him, his hair styled to give him the look of a professional, he has the face and the body every woman is dreaming about and the envy of every man. He noticed those big brown orbs and long dark eyelashes that looks exactly like the twins.
He is, was Reiko’s husband. Kira and Kaoru’s father.
The couple were talking as he passed by heading to the nurses station, “I want you and the twins to move in with me,” he didn’t see Reiko shaking her head, not happy about the guy’s decision. “No. We’re not going back. . .”
“They’re my sons and you’re still my wife.”
“I’m not your wife anymore.”
“You’re still my wife as long as the court says so.”
“They’re now studying our papers, we’ll be soon be divorced, you signed the papers remember?”
“You forced me to.”
“You wanted it, don’t turn the tables on me. Excuse me, I still have to work.”
That was what Junsu had understand in their conversation. Good thing he had studied Japanese with Junho few years back. It gets handy at this kind of situation.
“Hey Su!” Jaejoong called him, pulling him out of his reverie. “You okay?”
He sighed and looked straight at his friend’s eyes, “My love life gets complicated. Fuck my life.”

Throwing carelessly my bag and coat to the floor, I let myself fell upon the softness of my mattress. I groaned, my muscles were sore and aching, my brain slightly pounding against the back of my skull. With all the energy I have left, I got up just enough to strip my jeans off and slid under the bedcovers, closing my eyes and feel the warmth that surrounded me. My stiff body started to relax and I let my exhaustion took over.
Slowly drifting to sleep...
...but it didn’t come.
I sighed and turned to my side, closing my eyes again, willing to sleep, but I was too tired that my brain refused to shut down.
Sighing again, I lied on my back and stared on my ceiling. Somehow, my mind drifted back to Yoochun and our last meeting. I haven’t seen him in a week, haven’t heard him for several days. I paused, how could I be so sure it’s him I’ve been hearing? I remembered the tone, the vibration and timbre of his voice... It was almost like his voice, I couldn’t help but to miss him. God, I should have kissed him!
“Hey,” I whispered to nothingness, testing the water just to see if my hunch is correct. Silence greeted me, but I continued, hoping I would receive some kind of answer. “Are you there?”
I’m here, came the reply.
I smiled, I could feel my pulse quickened that instant.
I miss you too, his voice, so gentle sinking to a husky whisper sent shivers down my spine and other thousand different sensation swam inside me.
Hey, worry immediately washed over me and I found myself reassuring him that I’m still here and that, I want to talk to him.
You sound tired. . .
So are you. . .
I’m fine.
Then me too.
There was a strange feeling crept inside me. No, it did not scared me but rather makes me feel safe. It was a light feeling, very welcoming.
I had three meetings today, he paused, I skipped lunch like usual but I’m glad Min dragged me off my seat just after the second meeting.
Don’t skip meals, it’s not healthy.
I know, I’m sorry.
I don’t know what to say after that, so I remained still, waiting for him to talk.
How about you. . .Jae?
I sucked my breath, my eyes widening in shock. He. . . It’s him.
I, Y-you. . . I inhaled before continuing, I don’t understand. H-how, how is this possible?
Silence. A long pregnant pause ensued afterwards before he got his answer.
I don’t know, Jae. Are you mad? I’m sorry.
I stared ahead of me, my eyes fixed somewhere in the distance. I shook my head and closed my eyes. My mind and our conversation.
“This is bad. I think I’m hallucinating.”
I stood up, stripping my clothes as I head toward the bathroom.
“I need a damn hot bath.”

I let my feet led me, closing my eyes and walked down the street to God knows where. I felt like it, felt like jumping into that bus without checking where it was going and hopping off it on a busy street downtown. I tucked my hands on my pocket to protect it from cold. Looking around, I let whatever force it was pulled me again, turning me right in a small alley and up another street. I looked around, realizing I have never been on this road, but it felt familiar, like I knew where I should be going.
So I let my feet take control, letting it print new footsteps on the foreign pavement.
I look around, the rain was drizzling, small drops falling on my head, but I ignored it. Others might say rain is gloomy, but I love it nonetheless. In no time, my eyes fell on a familiar figure sitting by the window in a cafe. Jaejoong.
Taking my breath and gathering my courage, I stepped into the cafe and walked over to him. He looked tired, staring at the cup on his hands and a book in front of him. There was something coming off him that made me want, no, need to approach him. I need to get to him. “Hey,” I greeted and he looked up.
“Yoochun-ah,” he smiled, and if I’m not mistaken I could see his eyes lit up.
“Is this seat empty?” I smiled back.
“Yeah, Junsu just left,” he answered, eyes still full of amusement.
The waitress walked up to us and gave me the menu, where I decided to order a cup of cappuccino and sandwich. When I finished ordering, Jaejoong was still staring at me. I swallowed, thinking of the conversation I had with that voice last night. Was it really him? Is he pissed?
“Yes?” I decided to ask, and he shook his head.
“No, just...You come here often?”
“Ah no, actually, I’ve never been here,” I rubbed the back of my neck. “I saw you from outside...so yea...”
“Never?” he raised an eyebrow, turning to look out the window. “Where you heading somewhere?”
“Nowhere in particular,” I shrugged, “I just...got up and decided I wanted to go for a walk.” And that I suddenly missed you, I wanted to add but it would surely sound creepy.
“Ah,” Jaejoong nodded, smiling, “You do that often? Just, got up and let your feet guide you?”
“Let my heart led me? Barely,” I chuckled, “But...there seemed to be a gravity that...forced me to get off my bed today.” I turned to him and caught his eyes. My breath caught, but I cleared my throat to fake it, hoping I don’t sound as cheesy as I think I am and that I don’t blush that badly. “I...uh...like something just led me here today, like a magnet.”
I turned away from him, and the waitress saved the day by bringing me my order. I focused on my sandwich, cutting them into small pieces before eating them, until I heard a low chuckle. “You’re too cute, did you know that?”
Now I’m sure I’m as red as a tomato.
“You...seemed to always find me,” he continued, sipping on his tea.
“Ah, well...coincidence?”
“Perhaps, it was something more?” he smiled at me inquiringly.
I gaped, not sure how to respond. It would sound cheesy and even worse...creepy... like I’m a stalker. I swallowed another bite before looking up to him again. “Do you--” I cleared my throat, “Do you believe in mystic?”
“Mystic?”
“Like...ghost? Myth...magic?”
“Honestly, I’m a pretty rational person,” Jaejoong sipped his tea again, ever so calmly while I begin to panic inside.
“I don’t-- You might think I’m crazy,” I sighed.
“Well?” he raised an eyebrow again, looking at me right on the eyes.
“I think......I keep hearing your voice in my head.”
