Chapter 1 Chapter 2 “Wow…” Warrick sighed. Few moments before Greg had given Nick an icy
rejection to his breakfast invitation and marched out. “You must have
screwed up real bad.”
“Something like that.” Nick responded.
“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sanders angry before. What
did you do?”
“Remember when I told you my brother had just divorced?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, he’s found someone new.”
“Here in Vegas?”
“Yep.”
“That guy moves fast…”
“He’s been here two weeks and that thing started right away. So yeah,
he’s fast.”
“What does that got to do with you and Sanders?”
“I introduced them, and they really hit it off.”
“You mean…”
“Exactly.”
Warrick started laughing. “So Sanders might end up becoming your
brother-in-law. Well… not law, but you get the funny part.”
“There’s nothing funny about it! My big brother is getting it on
with a guy I work with every day.”
“Come on, it can’t be that bad.”
“It is that bad. Yesterday when I came back from the gym…” Nick took
a calming breath. “I walked in on them.”
“You mean they were-”
“No, not that. They were making out on the couch.”
“Did they have their clothes on?”
“Mostly.”
“What happened after that?”
“We said some things and it got out of control. And now my work buddy
doesn’t even want to speak to me, and my brother treats me like I’m
some awful bigot.”
“Why is it so hard? Your bro`s dating. Big deal.”
“I can understand that he’s dating, but it’s Greg!”
“Would it be any different if it was somebody else?”
“I think.”
“You want my advice? Get your head right and do something.”
----------------------------------------------------------
When Nick got home that morning, Mikey was already finishing his
breakfast in the kitchen. He gave Nick a short look and went back
to reading the newspaper.
“Morning. I… can we talk?”
“Make it quick, I need to go pretty soon.”
“I’m sorry about yesterday. I’m not sure what came over me.”
“If you don’t know that, then who does?”
“I mean that-”
“You said you were fine with me but you definitely don’t act
that way.”
“It’s not that I mind you dating men.”
“But you mind me dating Greg. Why?”
“I work with him. I’ve known him for a long time, and I don’t think
he’s right for you. I like him, he’s a great guy, but you and him
together just feels wrong.”
“Does this have anything do with your own life? You’ve been alone
for years. If you would find somebody for yourself, maybe then you
could be happy for others too.”
Mikey got up and left his dishes to the sink. “I’m meeting Greg
after work, so don’t wait up.”
“Would you just listen-”
“Save it.” Mikey walked out and clanked the door shut.
Nick kicked the dishwasher, but it did nothing to relief the feel of
frustration. He started pulling off his work clothes and headed to
the shower. After settling the temperature he steeped under the
spray of water.
The scene from yesterday came back once again. Greg was wriggling
in Mikey`s lap, kissing him feverishly. He could still hear the soft moans
and whimpers. Except that this time the scene was different. It wasn’t
Mikey under him. It was Nick.
Nick could feel himself getting hard. Mental images were getting
stronger and more vivid every minute. He reached down and slowly
stroked himself. He could feel Greg pressing against him, grinding
slowly against his crotch. Nick closed his eyes, pressing his forehead
against the cool tiles. His breathing became heavy and he blacked out.
He shook himself back to real world when the water started to turn
cold. At first he wasn’t even sure if it had happened, but a dripping
stain on the tiles provided a mute proof. Nick turned the water off
and waited. The guilt didn’t go away.
Nick grabbed a towel, dried himself and went to the bedroom to get
fresh clothes. After getting dressed he sat down to think about it.
The thought of Mikey and Greg dating had felt bad from the start,
but he had never thought it would be because he wanted Greg for
himself. But Greg was dating Mikey. And even if they would break
up, there was no reason to believe he would be interested in Nick.
Or would he? Greg liked Mikey, so obviously both brothers were his
type. In a month and half Mikey would be in San Francisco… unless…
What if they decided to go to the long distance route? Greg would be
around, but just as unreachable as he is now. As randy as Greg
sometimes was, Nick couldn’t imagine him cheating on his boyfriend.
Not to mention that would mean losing a brother.
He could just ask Mikey to back off. He probably wouldn’t agree to do
it, but he could try. Nick laid down on his bed and tried to sleep.
When he woke up, Mikey was still gone. His cell phone was blinking
and Nick snapped few keys to hear the message.
“Hey, it’s me. I’m staying at Greg’s tonight, so I wont be there until
morning. I’ll come by to get some fresh clothes and go straight to work.
Bye.”
