So, I work in a retirement home, as a security officer. To clarify, I am the dispatch officer, so my day is mostly sitting in a little room. I answer the phone, check alarms, monitor cameras, and get ALOT of reading done.
Some days are not bad.
Some days are....
Shortly after I arrived today I answered a call from one of the nurses to inform me that a woman had passed away during the early morning hours.
Naturally the thought of someones death, you begin to think about life; your life, the lives of those close to you, the lives you have an impact on...
And The Journey
Life itself is a journey. We are born into a world where we know nothing and no one. We need companions to help us along the way. These our our parent or parents, or guardian as the case maybe. They help us to grow. They teach us things we need to know, and how to live, right from wrong...
And we meet others along the way. All of them are at different stages in life. Some are close to our own place, some ahead, some behind. They help us and in turn we help them.
We make it to the place where our guardians no longer need to walk with us all the time. So we walk on with others, finding people we can trust to help us.
Throughout life there are other journeys: self discovery and trials and hardships, love and friendship and hope, just to name a couple.
Some of them we are destined to walk alone. The path is for us to find and forge by ourselves. We will learn to walk it, learn the dangers to avoid, and what to look for. We use the sum of our wisdom. The things taught to us all along are what get us there.
Friendship and Love, these we choose to walk with someone. Someone touches our lives in a way that is so special to us, we entwine our life with theirs, becoming traveling companions. There are still dangers and miss-steps and things to trip us up along the way....
We need to continue the journey together. If one takes the journey alone, then the other gets left behind.
