SPNiversary
The season 13 premiere is today. This means me driving my commute with the windows down, blasting “Carry On Wayward Son” so that the volume surpasses the automotive death rattles of my failing car.
This will be my first time watching an airing season whilst an active member of fandom. I’m not entirely sure what to expect, but I have much excitement indeed!
In other news, I have just realized that this month marks my third year as a Supernatural viewer. I’m sure this is a short amount of time to many people, who have been watching the show for a longer while (perhaps even since the airing of the pilot episode!). But to me-
Holy crap. Three whole years. That’s longer than I thought.
I’m not even sure when exactly I started watching Supernatural (although it must have been somewhere around the S10 premiere). It just sort of weirdly… happened. I mean, I was introduced to Supernatural through Jensen Ackles’ face, which snagged my attention only because at the moment I perceived it as “the weirdest mix of ‘tough guy’ and ‘pretty boy’ I’ve ever seen.” This was not really an incentive for me to watch the show. (The folklore stuff was what convinced me to watch Supernatural; the character/family aspect was what convinced me to invest in it.) But in a roundabout way, Jensen’s face did lead me to discover the show. And I’m now thinking, If I had never happened upon a photo of Jensen’s face-or if Jensen’s face did not exist-I may not have a relationship with Supernatural at all.
So thank you, Internet. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Ackles. And thank you, Jensen, for your excellent face.
And happy SPNiversary to me.
