Squall realized his mistake in not asking Guy what he looked like. Out of the 20, or so, current residents not from this world... Squall had seen barely any of them in person. It would be awkward going up to anybody that stood out from the natives of this world, and asking them if they were Guy. Sighing and pausing in his steps, Squall dropped his face into his hand and shook his head. Well, he was almost at the destination. It did help that he had a map to point out where Guy would be. What were the chances that another resident not from this world would be hanging around in that spot? Sighing, Squall dropped his hand and looked up, before continuing towards the destination.
A few minutes later, he paused his steps, once again. Blue eyes began scanning the area. It did not take long, before they landed on a person that stood out rather... brightly, in Squall's opinion. The mercenary lifted a brow, before approaching the older man.
Guy looked up, noting that someone was approaching him. He blinked and took in the strange, scar and all. If this was Squall, he wondered how the boy came across such a wound. Questions weren’t a big thing right now though, so he stood up and made his mind go back to the task at hand.
He assumed that this was Guy. Squall paused his steps, before nodding. Taking a few seconds to quickly study the other, Squall noted that he got a good vibe from the blonde. He rested a hand on his hip, before moving his hand to quickly scratch the back of his head, for a brief moment. Dropping the hand that was on his head to his side. Yeah, conversation was definitely not his strong point.
Guy nodded and smiled. So it was who he had been looking for. Motioning towards a restaurant, he started towards it. “From what I’ve been through, planning on anything on an empty stomach is usually a bad thing. So how about we eat something while we plan?” he suggested, opening the door for Squall. He then came in behind him and waited to be seated. “This place has some good food.”
The hint of a frown appeared on Squall's face, but he did not object. He did pause, before going in the door, though. Part of him was... somewhat irked by the door being opened, for him. Once he was inside, the brunette stood silently, while looking around. It was nothing fancy, though it held a somewhat relaxing setting (despite the town, that is). Once Squall had examined the restaurant, he glanced back over at Guy, who had mentioned the food. The SeeD simply responded with a nod.
If there was anything to be taken from this, it was that Guy was the perfect gentleman, for men and women alike. Plus, he was a servant, so opening doors for others was part of his training. The hostess came by and seated them by the window, which didn’t bother him at all. Having a view while eating was always a bit pleasant, and he went about quickly scanning the menu.
Once they were seated, Squall nodded his silent appreciation to the hostess, before he glanced over the menu. Honestly, he did not see anything that a particular favorite, for him. He decided on something simple. Looking up at Guy when the question was asked, Squall frowned in thought, for a short moment.
"Well..."
He was quickly interrupted by the waitress approaching the table.
Guy gave his order, then waited for Squall to do the same. Once that was done, he waited for the drinks to arrive before initiating the conversation again. “Well, you already started compiling a list of names of current residents… that’s always a good place to start.” He mused, thinking of all the people that were here but that he rarely interacted with. It still surprised him that so many were left over after all of the slaughter and the sudden mass disappearance of most of them. He felt a slight pang, thinking of some of the people he had actually become friends with, and the two boys who had been completely erased, then brought back to avoid being in pain. It seemed cruel, yet kind, of the world to do that.
“Some of the residents here… have been changed, or have been rewritten. That seems to be the most appropriate word for it.”
Looking at Guy as the blonde-haired man spoke, Squall gave a nod in response. Squall paused as he thought about those that he had considered trustworthy comrades, at one point. Either they were gone now, or they had simply vanished. Squall hated to admit it, but he was worried about one particular person, at the moment. Since there was nothing he could do, however, ... he had found it best not to even think about him. It made it easier (or so he thought) to deal with it. Besides, this world would not stop simply because of the disappearance of one. It continued moving. Squall figured that it would be best, if he continued, as well. If he gave up over a few people, what good would come of it?
This is why the mercenary found it pointless to have friends. It only ended in them leaving, or vice-versa. Though, in thinking like that... it was as though he was calling themFrowning considerably hard, Squall rested his right elbow on the table, before burying his face in the palm of his hand. He heard the other's words about residents being

Guy watched him carefully, not really having had to deal with someone like Squall. Jade was one thing, but at least he was more open about things, though vague to a painful degree at times. It didn’t help that he really had no idea how to console strangers other than being the eternal optimist. And it didn’t seem like the most appropriate of times to be overly happy about a situation like this.
So he frowned as well, stirring his drink with his straw. When Squall spoke again, he listened intently.
“I know… but it still seems wrong… the way he just plays with us, does what he wants… uses us to kill others… and the way he can just… make us forget the most important things, the most important people… that’s just sick.”
The brunette's expression momentarily softened just a bit, before his eyes closed. Sighing softly, Squall opened his eyes and looked at Guy with a serious expression on his face. In all honesty, Squall did not know how much more he could take of this place. He was a little... tired, to say the least. Perhaps the town... and everything happening in it, was finally starting to get to the mercenary. Hell, even SeeDs have limits, right? Squall was only human, after all

Guy just watched him, feeling a slight pang. He didn’t get it. Really. It confused the hell out of him as he watched the younger boy sit there, sighing, replying in a weary tone. It was in his nature to want to help, to cheer people up, to comfort everyone the best way he could. In this case though, he felt like that if he tried, the other would shy away from him. And that thought hurt him slightly as he just kept watching.
Right now, he wanted to reach over and grab Squalls hand, give it a squeeze. Instead, he folded up his arms and leaned against them on the table, keeping his eyes on the salt and pepper shakers in front of him. He was glad the boy didn’t know him too well, or else he would have known that this was definitely not how the cheerful blonde usually went about his day.
“The only thing we really can do is warn the people that arrive in this world… and hope he doesn’t kill them too.”
Hearing words like that honestly annoyed Squall. It was one thing to think it, but to actually hear it? Of course, the anger was not towards Guy. It was towards the reason those words were being spoken. A frown appeared on the brunette's face, before quickly vanishing as he looked back up at the source of the words. After a few seconds of studying Guy, Squall let out a sigh and buried his entire face in the palm of his hand. It felt like this entire conversation was doing nothing but creating more negative emotions for the both of them

“A warning is something I never got, you know, before he got to me…” Guy replied quietly. He still didn’t look up, just kept staring at the two condiment dispensers. “He targeted those that were my friends first… that just hurt… then I decided to do something about it, and became the next victim. And then is quieted down, no one was challenging him… then I left, and when I came back, he’d already killed a few more… Seems the less we fight, the less he kills.”
Looking up again, he made sure not to meet the Mercenary’s eyes, staring off in a random direction. “The people that had known me before, many of them were still here. And now so many of them have disappeared.” He sighed and went back to looking down.
“I am going to try and fight him in a way that won’t get anyone endangered.”
The brunette studied Guy a moment, before looking to the side. Guy really had been through a lot. Of course, everyone here had it pretty rough. That is, unless they enjoyed being here. To each their own, he supposed. Some people could have nothing for them back in their world. The mercenary's expression softened a moment, before he sighed and spoke in a low tone.
"I see..." Squall then looked at guy as he spoke, "How do you plan on doing that?"
Guy stared at the table for a few more minutes before looking up at Squall. “Well, first of all, I’m going to try and enjoy my time here... No sense in brooding all the time. It can make you sick if you do too much of that.” he replied, a small smile on his face. He then smiled a little brighter and watched the waitress bring their food to the table. He thanked her quietly and grabbed his fork, set on eating. “And I’ll do what I can to help the others feel welcome here, and help them in trying to leave, if I can. It’d be a waste to have everyone be depressed all the time as well.”
A few minutes later, he paused his steps, once again. Blue eyes began scanning the area. It did not take long, before they landed on a person that stood out rather... brightly, in Squall's opinion. The mercenary lifted a brow, before approaching the older man.
