Narcissa sat at the table, her head slightly hurting from the champagne she had drunk the night before.  She had the breakfast laid out, but nothing looked very appetizing.  She decided to wait for Lucius to appear.  She wanted to make plans with him for the week; she knew that she needed to make a few trips away from the Manor and she wasn't sure if it was safe for her to go unaccompanied.

The evening had been a success, by her estimations.  She had made nice to Pearcy Weasley by dancing with him and turning his head, slightly.  It was always good to have more than one source of information at the Ministry of Magic.  And he was a Weasley at that.  She thought he would be happy to share information with her if she continued  to be slightly social with him, at least in passing at the Ministry.

She had met with Stella Sinistra, and discovered that there was such a thing as a crash course in werewolf education.  She had a small amount of sympathy for the young woman who was clearly making a horrible mistake by Bonding with the tainted man.  But she thought she could use her to her advantage and at least learn enough to be seen making an effort.

She had also met with Remus Lupin, and had again, made a serious attempt to make peace with the man, keeping h Draco in mind.  It was always Draco who nagged at her thoughts.  If he only knew how she was degrading herself for his sake.  All in the name of perhaps understanding him better.  She could not give up.  She refused.  He was her son and she loved him so.

She waited for Lucius, to ask him about Severus Snape, and see what his preference was for a visit from the potions instructor and his soon to be mate.  She was pleased at the books she had won from the silent auction; she fully intended sending them to Remus Lupin as a gift.

She was curious about Draco.  There had not been a shortage of attractive young women that she noticed surrounding him, where ever he could be found.  She had seen Draco dancing with Daphne Greengrass, and with Pansy Parkinson, to name the few she had noticed.  She had planned to have the girl over again with Pansy; she was not too concerned, but wondered if the girls were openly struggling for her son's affection.  She would bother mentioning her observations to her son;  she did not want to appear meddlesome.  She would speak to Lucius about it, not Draco.  She sipped her tea, and began to make her plans for the week.
