A Call For Change
Editorial Submitted by Arthur Weasley
((ooc: Written by Mike))

For hundreds of years the Wizarding world has been existing in relative peace, wizards living amongst werewolves, centaurs, giants, muggleborns, the list can go on. All of that peace was destroyed by the unfortunate arrival of Voldemort. The battle was rough, though in the end good beat out evil. The wizarding community was left to pick up the pieces of their once peaceful existence, yet even now people cannot rest easy with a Minister such as Shingleton.

The lack of decency shown by this man towards the werewolf community is a travesty. I ask you all to think back to the sham that was the execution of Mandy Brocklehurst. Werewolves not getting trials? Ignoring the simplest lack of evidence? The horrific treatment of the poor woman before the execution? Are we to ignore the basics of human decency to full fill the wishes of a truly twisted individual that is supposed to be thinking of the best interest of the Wizarding world?

This is the same man who seems to believe that it is quite all right to let former Death Eaters, the same people who were responsible for the deaths and torture of our loved ones to walk the streets with just a tracking device. Sure they have a curfew, sure they have to have their wands checked. This doesn't mean it will stop them, in desperation they can recruit new non-registered members, they can still bring down their reign of terror onto our world.

I will formally state that I do not believe for one minute that Bellatrix Lestrange has been cured, the woman is evil on a level that can never be cured. The one thing I will give her is that she is smart, and I wouldn't put it past her to outsmart the ones in charge of curing her.

Which leads me to Lucius Malfoy, are we to ignore everything he did during the war just on the suggestion that he was a spy for the ministry? I request, no, I demand evidence of this. How this man, who took great pleasure in the suffering of those who were not pureblooded, who prided himself on safeguarding the old ways of the purebloods was a spy for the ministry? I think not.

I ask you all, citizens of this great world to demand change, to demand what we deserve. We deserve peace of mind, we deserve fair treatment for the magical creatures that co-exist with us. We deserve a better and fair minister. Which is why I, Arthur Weasley, will be running for Minister of Magic in the summer elections against Rudiger Shingleton.
