Millicent left the Ministry by Floo to stop back to Knightsbridge to change before going to meet Daphne. She hadn’t seen Daphne in such a long time that she was rather surprised to find her working at Honeydukes. Millicent shrugged that off, certain that Daphne must be just as askance at finding her former towermate hard at work at the Ministry. Really, who would have thought either one of them would seek any sort of gainful employment?

She dressed quickly but carefully in dark woolen slacks and an emerald green jumper with stiletto black leather boots. It was casual for an evening out, but rather dressed up by her emerald earrings and a rather gaudy emerald pin she wore on a chain. The earrings were a bit much, but Millicent was of the firm opinion that real jewels were never in bad taste, especially large ones. She slipped a dark cloak over her clothing for warmth and raised the hood for a bit of privacy before apparating back to Diagon Alley. From there it was a very short walk to La Medea, a small but elegant bistro that offered as much distraction as its customers wished - and no more. Aside from a waiter who looked as tantalizing as the appetizers, Millicent expected her conversations with Daphne to be the focal point for this evening. Just the fact that Daphne had been able to read her hexed private journal entry had been an unexpected reassurance. Whilst most of the Slytherin students at Hogwarts held at least some of Millicent’s viewpoints, she couldn’t remember actually discussing her Dark Lord with Daphne at any time in the Common Room.

Millicent could not resist a brief look at her bare forearm. After all this time she stilled missed the Dark Mark. Perhaps an emerald cuff bracelet might dim the gnawing pain of its loss.

She surrendered the cloak somewhat reluctantly to the maitre de. As if sensing her need for privacy, he showed her to a most private table where she and Daphne could speak without fear of being overheard by other diners. Millicent sat with her back towards the wall and awaited her friend’s arrival. When the most satisfactory waiter brought her martini she nearly smiled in response. He looked more like an assassin-in-training than a waiter, with his studied day-old growth of dark beard and piercing blue-green eyes. She found him most attractive indeed as she settled in to wait for her friend.
