In the dead of night, alone with her thoughts, Cara often wondered what it would have been like to be able to raise her child. Be a mom. She sighed as she watched the stars, her mind traveling to the night her son was born. She remembered the pain--and there had been pain. A lot of it, in fact. But as a Mord Sith, she had been taught to deal with pain from an early age. No, what she remembered most was his cry. Just the cry of her son's first breath. She'd never even gotten the chance to hold him. Not once. He'd been ripped from her body at birth and all she'd wanted was one moment with him. Cara closed her eyes, sighing quietly. One single tear slid down her face.
