JJ turned away from the others, burying her face in a file, trying to hide the tears that slid down her face. She took a shuddering breath, willing herself to hold it together until they got home.

"JJ," Morgan called the pretty blonde's name. When he received no response, he tried again. Still receiving no response, he motioned to Garcia, who had just sat down. "Hey, what's up with JJ?" he asked, pointing in her direction.

"I don't know. How long has she had that file in front of her face like that?"

"For the last ten minutes or so."

Garcia nodded and moved to join her friend, who still seemed to be lost in another world. Garcia sat down beside her and gently took the file from her. "What's wrong, JJ?" she asked softly. She should have known that hiding anything from them was next to impossible, especially when they were on the plane and she couldn't simply hide in her office. "And don't say nothing," Garcia told her.

"Today would have been my sister's birthday," she said, unconsciously playing with the necklace her sister had given her so long ago.

"JJ, you don't have to hide things like this," Garcia told her softly.

"I know. I just thought--"

"You could handle it by yourself?"

She nodded as fresh tears filled her eyes. "Yeah."

"Come here," Garcia said, holding open her arms. As soon as Garcia's arms wrapped around her, JJ lost it completely, crying in her friend's comforting embrace.

When she'd calmed down and looked around, she saw that every member of the team was looking at her with concern. "I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for, JJ," Hotch told her kindly. "The things in our past make us who we are."

"You don't think I'm weak?" she asked softly.

Hotch shook his head. "Quite the opposite, actually. You are one of the strongest people I know."

"Thank you," she whispered, clearly touched.

A little later, the plane was quiet as the team settled down to try and get some sleep. Hotch gathered up the empty coffee cups and put them in the sink. As he made his way back to his seat, he stopped to drape a blanket over a sleeping JJ.

As he slipped into his own seat, he turned off the light, plunging the plane into darkness. He closed his eyes, thankful for the people sleeping around him, once simply co-workers, now trusted friends.
