Author warnings/summary: PTSD, Violence, Angst, Demisexual Character. Sherlock won't give up looking for Moriarty; John is losing patience. Neither of them are coping as well as they would like. Post for 1.03, more details in notes. This starts about two months after 1.03 and assumes an explosion which didn't manage to kill any of the three main players. I'll leave the BBC to sort that part out.
Content notes for: injuries and recovery, PTSD, one not very explicit sex scene, a few instances of strong language. If anything else strikes you as needing to be tagged, do please let me know. Also if you have any concerns with how anything is portrayed. Concrit is always welcome.

This post-episode 1.03 fic deals with not only the physical scars of the explosion, but also the mental scars encountered by Sherlock and John. Sherlock is constantly in pursuit of Moriarty, consumed by his need to catch him, whilst John follows and will continue to follow Sherlock to the bitter end, seemingly regardless of what this means for himself. The author gives a thoughtful and sometimes stunning vision of the affects this all has upon their relationship.
More of a character study than a plot fuelled fic, the author captures the depth of and writes a beautifully complicated and intense relationship between Sherlock and John as they attempt to each deal with their suffering. The way in which each of them learn to cope with what has happened and what is happening is both realistic and believable.
Told from both Sherlock and John's point of view, with the use of brilliantly crafted sentences the author conveys the rawness of their feelings, their frustration at not being able to communicate with one another effectively is evident. The dialogue is completely in character, each line delivered providing an insight into each man's very different way of thinking.
There are a few grammar/spelling errors, a couple of which really stand out and would easily have been picked up by a beta reader. However, they do not detract too much from the wonderfully built up tension. So, if you enjoy an evocative fic with excellent characterization and plenty of angst then this is one you shouldn't miss.
