So, i came back from saturday's party to a dead fish. and a struggling fish. the 2 new fish i bought somehow....... are ill? I have no idea, i guess there must be something off in the water. they had ich, but i was treating it and it was looking better, but.. yeah i don't know. the one that's still alive is all gasping on the bottom of the tank. i did a water change yesterday and im going to do another one in a little bit. i don't know if it'll help, though. Just on a whim i tested the fresh water i have waiting and... there are nitrates in it. no wonder *my* nitrates are always on the high side if my tap water already has a bunch in it. im kind of annoyed by this finding. but what can i do? but a reverse osmosis water filter for my little 13 gallon tank? don't think so.
Well, we'll see if fishy lives. she survived the night but... honesty looks worse than yesterday. apparently ram cichlids are sensitive. none of my other fish have an problems, though. maybe they are just ill? i did see weird stringy poo a couple of times from the boy, i thought that meant constipation, and i assumed it was from the new food. i've been feeding them daphnia, bloodworms, and a pellet food, i don't know what they were eating in the store. So. yeah. I'm really sad about that, i've always wanted fish like that. I'll have to regroup and reconsider if the other one dies. if she recovers and lives i still might wait to get another. i don't know. blah. D:
anyways, this weekend was fun, i should post about it later. i just wanted to be emo about my fish first, though. :P

maybe i should just get some more neons so we have 10 again and leave it at that. it was a fun tank that way, i just wanted something a little bigger, too. ......sigh.
