Dad called me yesterday to chat for a bit: it sounds to me like he has a lot more energy and life in his voice than I heard out of him before he started physical rehab. Maybe that's because of the rehab; maybe it's because he's been forced to realize his impending* mortality and wants to get more out of life; maybe it's from being free of smoking and drinking for a whole two weeks now. I don't know which it is, but thank God, and I'll take it! Anyway, he talked a lot about all the stuff he's been watching on youtube- especially Brandon Herrera stuff!- now that he's become much more interested in the customizability of "the internet" versus the garbage cycle on TV.
Generally, Brandon Herrera is okay but I think there's a lot of other worthwhile stuff out there- so I sent him links to good vids from a number of other channels that I liked and thought he'd also like...and, what the heck, I'll post the exact links I sent him here too. Technically none of these qualify as NSFW if you don't have your volume on (but many of them are a lot less interesting without audio):

https://youtu.be/YUGu0hYXweY?si=oQtqZx6M_zZKkJq_ The funeral for Charles Sharp was Friday the 9th, at 11:00. Amy was sick and since we had both intended to go together, I decided to just stay at work. It's good, for Amy at least, that we didn't go: I found out later that the church was PACKED. Charlie was a member of a lot of clubs, most notably among them being the Rotary and a Corvette club. The funeral went over one hour and forty minutes, which is nigh unheard of for our church. Not that it matters one way or another, but I doubt I'll have a packed church for my funeral.
A couple other interesting church things are going on, but I'll save those for another post.
My new gun club member tag showed up on Wednesday; at the swap meet I found the club Vice President and put my payment directly in his hand along with a "sorry-it's-so-late, my life sucked financially in the second half of the year" comment, and he said he'd take care of it. This was really timely, because I've been wanting to go shooting again and they've probably changed the gate code by now: the code for the new year is usually set on all the locks in early Feb (the gates were left open all day for the swap meet).
Speaking of the club, I did end up emailing the swap meet coordinator and asking if he could get me in touch with the man selling the nickel Webley I talked about earlier. It would be *so* great if I can still buy it; after I got home and talked so excitedly with Amy about it on Saturday, she agreed that purchasing it would not have been an objectionable move. I will be watching my email with great interest for the next couple days- something that I haven't done in a LONG while.
Fun fact: I am currently wearing the same pants I am wearing in my avatar- they are fantastic work/outdoor activity pants as long as it's above 40 degrees out.
*within the next 20-30 years, anyway
God is good. That is all.
