Two items bring me before you tonight:
First, I'm somewhat disappointed. Something I'd looked forward to happening today didn't happen. I stayed up late (well, late for me - it's 2:30) hoping it would happen, but to no avail. So I'm disappointed. And tired.
Of course, I didn't *waste* the time - I have been playing Civilization 4 - Beyond the Sword, which is another highly enjoyable offering from the Civ franchise. But I do wish that the thing I was hoping for had happened.
Secondly, I'm even more disappointed - the Western Digital external USB drive which Zach gave me for Christmas has apparently failed. When plugged in, it lights up and I can hear it spin up, but the computer fails to recognize it (the dialog says "USB device not recognized"). This is a change - it worked when I got it, and it currently holds the full backup I did about three weeks ago... but neither my laptop nor my work computer recognizes it.
So I'm doubly disappointed. But mostly I'm tired, so I'm going to bed. Good night, my friends.
[Edit: I have googled and checked the WD site for suggestions, but there's no mention of my problem (working, then failing). It may be toast.
Fortunately, I don't actually need the data on the drive - I just would prefer not to replace it.
And hey: on the bright side: it gave me something to post about, so there's that. :) ]
