I'm not following you. There's a market out there for replacement usb drive cases and controllers? I can open up the WD unit, and pop it in? Wow, coolness.
I'll continue to look, but what I'm seeing so far doesn't seem suitable.
Call the company? It honestly never occurred to me. This was a Christmas present, bought by a 19-year-old, who certainly didn't save the receipt.
And my experience with tech support is that it's such a horrible combination of useless ignorance and arrogant intellectual insult that I never even considered it. Do you think they might have a suggestion? Their "support" faq database didn't seem to have anything comparable.
Don't get me wrong: I'm willing to consider it... but I'm honestly caught off-guard by the suggestion.
